I refer you to the last couple of chapters in the third book, in which these attributes are not only displayed at great risk to Harry, but are also singled out by Dumbledore as Harry's defining characteristic.
There is also a line at the end of the movie, which I paraphrase: "It takes great courage to stand up to your enemies, but even more to stand up to your friends."
