Johnny *Mike* Spann was an ex-Marine and operational CIA Station Chief in Afghanistan and an american Hero. He had accompanied the Northern Alliance into the prison at Kunduz to interrogate several non-Afghani Taliban. They were searched for weapons, but none were found. They had no firearms.
Mike proceeded to try and question them when he was suddenly physically attacked by knives the Taliban had hidden on their persons. Mike was stabbed, beaten, and pieces of flesh were bitten from his body as if he had been attacked by a pack of starved, wild dogs.
There are no words to describe my anger. The interview with his father said it all. Mike told his father that SOMEONE had to do the things no one else wanted to do. He did them, never considered himself a hero for doing it, and WE should NEVER Forget!!!

Before joining the CIA in June 1999, Spann served in the Marine Corps as an artillery specialist, reaching the rank of captain.

Sen. Richard Shelby, R-Ala., said he spoke to Mike Spann's wife, Shannon.

``She said that when I saw people, I should tell them her husband cared about America, cared about the future of America, and cared about the security of Americans,'' Shelby said, fighting back tears.
