"Where did the funds come from to incorporate the Free Republic Network, if you know?" Have you ever claimed that FRN was a 501(C) organization? Is it? Were funds raised to establish 501(C) status for various FR organizations? How much and from where? Has ANY FR organization applied for, much less received, 501(C) status? If not, what was done with the money raised for that purpose?"

The funds to incorporate the three new Free Republic entities that were to become 501(c)s came from FR. We ended up hiring two different lawyers to get these set up. One of them got Free Republic Institute incorporated and I believe got the paper work filled out for our 501C filing. As far as I knew at the time, he had filed it. We found out later that he did not. He also did not get the other two corporations started. Then he quit. The second lawyer did not turn out any better. For one reason after the other, he drug his feet for months. All of this drug out over a period of a year or more until I finally got tired of it and decided to abandon the project. During this period, I thought that our filing was in process and even started developing the websites for the organizations. I have since taken them down. We may revive it later, but I'm in no rush. The current FRN is Bob's project. I gave him permission to use the Free Republic name, but I am not involved in it in any capacity. He's paying the bills himself. As far as I know, the corporation is organized and the 501(c) is in process. Hope he has better luck than I did.

According to California public records, the only "FR" corporation of record is Free Republic Network, with an incorporation date of 9-27-99. However, in Judge Morrow's tentative order, she notes that the Free Republic Institute was "incorporated on September 27, 1999".

In fact, wasn't the corporation filing for the old Free Republic Institute merely changed to Free Republic Network, and weren't the costs associated with the original organization paid by FR?

If so, is it accurate to say that you and Free Republic have nothing to do with Free Republic Network? If this analysis is accurate, did (or should) Bob J reimburse Free Republic for those costs?

I appreciate the opportunity to review these issues with you.
