1. Did Lazamataz use the Lee Greenwood song, "God Bless the USA" in his video presentation that was shown to paying guests at the Inaugural Ball last year? If so, did he receive permission from the author?
2. Was this song also included in the FReeper Ball video that was promoted and sold on Free Republic, and if so, was permission received for its use?
3. Was any royalty paid to Mr. Greenwood out of the sales proceeds from this video?
4. How many units of the video were sold, and how much revenue was generated from these sales?
5. If permission was not received from Mr. Greenwood, upon what legal theory are you relying to use his song in a commercial video production about Free Republic without such permission?
6. Does the sale of a video about Free Republic, using threads on the website to promote such sale, constitute a commercial activity as it pertains to the question of whether FR is entitled to the fair use defense?
As always, thanks in advance for your attention to these very relevant questions!
Do you represent Mr. Greenwood?
Is any of this relevant to current affairs?
Thanks, Jim. Somehow, that doesn't surprise me. I would be interested in what BobJ and Laz have to offer on the subject, inasmuch as it appears to have been their project. I notice Laz raised the question on one of the FReeper Ball threads, so I know the issue was discussed at some level.
Could you speak to the issue of how many units were sold, and how much revenue was generated, or would BADJOE be a better source for that data?

Now, though we have thoroughly covered the questions you have posed, if you have failed to bite me, or, if you have any future questions about this or any other matter, please feel free to bite me.
BTW: Guess who sang at several of President G.W. Bushes ceremonies and presentations?
Why, that's right: Lee Greenwood.
Gee, I wonder where his loyalties and polticial affiliations lie? ;^)
Why, that's right: Lee Greenwood.
Laz,
Does the fact that Mr. Greenwood is a conservative give you or FR the right to use his property without permission? Or did you get permission?
If we are forming a line, Z2, you can bite me also.
While it appears my explanation was quite thorough, I must remind you that it is extremely important that you bite me immediately. Please confine yourself to the left cheek at this time.
If you make any mistakes, make sure you have deep pockets, my friend. :o) And in the process of various actions, I will even determine your name, serving address, and everything! Neat! :o)
Laz appears to have answered your questions quite succinctly; yet you have failed to answer mine.
This becomes your business...exactly how??
He's appearing ungrateful. I really went out of my way to explain all the intricities of the situation here!
Glad to help!
Feel free to proceed to the right cheek.
