Hey, I post at LP, but I don't consider myself and "afer". I have some major problems with a certain group of people around her but do not have any desire to see this place fold!!!! Roger that. I am certainly no AFhole. And I also might not post here as much as I used to -- I am virulently piled-on by people who take any criticism of Bush I may have just a little too personally -- but JimRob is not one of those people.
As to the ever-present analysis of JimRob's finances that the AFholes like to engage in, I repeatedly respond that when I buy a hamburger at Wendys, I do not expect to see a company profit/loss statement. FR gives me a service and I pay for it. I could really care less where the money goes.

My thoughts are this: FR is unique and it should stay that way. FR is what FReedom is all about. However, there are some in this world who do not have a committed heart for America. There are those who are jealous of what FR has become - a voice in the wilderness - which is a threat to them and their ultra left wing views.
Disruptors are easy to deal with - just ignore them. Their only goal is to get FReepers to explode - that's their game, and their questions or supposed complaints are really just a ruse to draw people in. They get their jollies out of watching people go ballistic. They don't care about Bush and they probably don't even have brains enough to figure out some of the questions they are asking. If they did, they wouldn't be asking the questions, because the information to answer their questions is all over the place. They just don't want to take the time to look it up.
The other disruptors are the group from DU. These people are particularly hateful and don't make any bones about it. When the book "Bias" made the statement that all the liberals ever do is call people names (when you don't agree with their agenda), it was the understatement of the year.
I come to this spot every night just to see what's going on. I really feel deprived if I cannot get on my computer each evening. I have found here so many people who feel exactly as I do - and I have learned so much from the miriad of people from all over the country, and a few from Canada and other countries. I have found real friends - and real people.
FR is what America is all about. Individuals who have banded together for a common reason - to support conservatism and each other.

Keep up the good work Jim!

Free Republic has been my main source of reasoned debate and organized opposition to the evils of bad gov't , and has allowed the truth a forum it would not have elsewhere.
Stay ! You are needed.

Also, I'd pay $10.00 a month to subscribe to FR. You can do it now. Freepmail BADJOE and set yourself up as a monthly donor.

I used to check out AF sites, but got tired of the same old griping, seems their only purpose was and is to badmouth FR for whatever reason.
I now ignore them completely, they are of no consequence.
Keep FR going.

CyberAnt, I agree re: how to deal with disruptors. My response goes back a few posts and was originally addressed to angelo who was writing about LP and wrote:
"I'm guessing you haven't spent much time over there. The antifreepers are kept locked away in their own little cage, where they can snipe to their heart's content without disrupting the news forum. And contrary to terilyn's assertion, there is real debate over there.
I agree with Bob J and BADJOE. There is ample room for a Liberty Post or a Lucianne.com. The more the merrier!"
My first response was:
To: angelo
UNLESS.......some decide to become disruptors. Or post threads like "Pray For My Bush" for the sole purpose of derision where anti-FR seems to be the only topic.
I traveled ALL over LP today (first time there)...I saw MANY on different threads that felt the need to post anti-freeper posts. And many that had to brag about how they had been to FR and posted XXXX.......or XXXX. I even saw entire posts from FR copied and posted on LP...for the purpose of ridicule. When was the last time you saw an LP thread posted on FR in it's entirety?
This is counter-productive to ALL isn't it? Isn't that a bit like turf wars.......or neighborhood gang wars?
Your statement is correct ONLY if respected by all parties. But as soon as some decide to 'visit'---OR---'register' for the sole purpose of disruption, then you are right back in a 'who's sandbox is better', childish, disruptive situation, no? And.......who benefits?
IMO.....ALL lose.
So I was more discussing the two-way street required as advocated by someone from LP--rather than the best way to deal with disruptors. On that subject, no argument. Ignore them.
And sorry this is so long. :o(

FR is a very needed and important site. It also provides education and perspective, as well as entertainment. It has been the genesis of much activism.
I could go on and on. I am not concerned with the costs. I know that there are sufficient numbers of steady participants and those who see real value in keeping FR around.
Keep on keepin on. You've got my support.

This site is one site where the 1st Amendment is still in effect. It is a God-send in the PC world of today's American public!
KEEP IT GOING! Next question?!

As most of you know, our pro bono attorney has left us and we've hired a new attorney to continue with our case, plus we have the suit against eschoir to pay for. Please explain what the suit against eschoir is all about.

Jim - I haven't been here very long, but joining FR felt like coming home.I've settled in to be able to enjoy well-reasoned conversation (at least for the most part) and met folks that I otherwise wouldn't have met.
Don't go - FR plays an important role in this culture. It informs, it enriches, it supports, it provides, it promotes, it discusses, it incites, it inspires. It has a life of it's own.
Why? It just is.
And that simple fact is far more important and larger than any of the issues or problems that some insist are present. Contrary to the arguements of some, even though there is some measure of in-fighting here, it is no different than in any growing community - it has it's growing pains. But as the old saying says truthfully, "That which does not kill you makes you stronger."
Thank you for providing me somewhere where I am not made to feel like a pariah because I am not a lemming walking lock-step behind someone who is supposed to lead me because my skin is a certain color.
Thank you for allowing me to come home.
