Hey, I found this site last night, and I would LOVE to donate but my parents are wacky with giving money to someplace. Jim, you keep this running for 2 more years(when I am 16), I swear I will donate at least $100 in the 2 years from now. I know, some might hate me, but, I swear I am Republican, love Reagan,Bush, and Bush(GW) and wouldn't like to see this go down. Thank you, A Young Republican looking for others that feel the same as me(I live in WI, dunno if u need that)

I've been watching a couple of things on PBS this weekend that I'd wanted to see for a while. As it happens it's "Pledge Week" at WETA and funny thing....they haven't once told me where all their money goes? How much they pay in salaries, what their overall operating costs are, how much they pay to keep their web site running, etc. HOW DARE THEY!
Hell, they even get money from the FED and are still trying to get me to reach into my pocket and give and what are they giving me in return. Nothing...I only watch about 9 hours of PBS per week compared to the 25 or so hours that I spend freeping.
Now I'm really pissed. I demand a peasant revolt.

Wow, that's almost believable - you're asking all these probing questions just for the sake of your poor gullible mommy. LOTF anxiously awaits word of Jim's response. It must be rough to have no life.

what a post of BS that was.

Forgive me for intruding, your comments weren't directed to me, however, I believe that moderatoring at least some moderatoring is really needed. Many times newbies or people just surfing through see only the outlandish or stupid posts and go on their way much to their loss. Hey, jump right in :)
The problem with this scheme is that so many terribly, terribly stupid posts are on-topic, polite and in no way break any of the rules. Moderating for quality is almost impossible to do fairly and well and is by definition subjective.
Thing is, forums like FR let everybody have an equal chance to get up on the soapbox. I think that's a mind-blowing and fantastic thing - the real miracle of the internet, and one that I think is going to have a genuine impact on society.
Unfortunately, some of those voices are going to be stupid or stone cold crazy or merely inarticulate. It's just inevitable. I don't know how many thousands of posts hit FR every day, but it's a cinch that probably hundreds of them are embarrassingly dumb.
Given what platforms like FR are trying to do, I think it's terribly unfair for Rush (or anyone) to latch on to the worst messages of the day and call them representative. I'd hate to see more rules imposed because some people "out there" don't get the concept.

At the very least, PBS should release confidential legal documents convered under Atty./Client priv., doncha think?

You seem to be one of the alpha attack dogs here. I anticipated you would try and characterize my questions as one of the Antis, and I can't prove you wrong so I intend to ignore you. Then why did you respond?
You've been expecting me? How nice. You surely must be thrilled. On threads like these, I don't respond to just *any* posts, you know.
Only the ones that are BS.
In fact, your repose speaks volumes as to why she would not want to ask any questions in person.
In case you HAVE been reading this thread, you have seen, I am sure, that legitimate questions have been answered in words that even a child of your age should have been able to understand.
I'm sure your mother is a nice person; however, as we are now at nearly 3000 replies on this thread, I would suggest you might want to take her aside and have a discussion with her as to the meaning of the words "PRIVATE COMPANY."

You need serious mental help. And I'm talking about the kind you get with the rubber hose between your teeth.

I'm trying to figure this out: does this make us Anti-Anti-Freepers?
To: Howlin
You need serious mental help. And I'm talking about the kind you get with the rubber hose between your teeth. Yow! I'm unfamiliar with a form of therapy that involves putting a rubber hose between your teeth. I don't want to know any more about it. And I certainly don't want to know how you know about it.

Haven't you ever seen Strange Brew????
To: Howlin
LOL!

Those goobers define themselves by what they're against, i.e., antiFreeps. Sounds pretty vacuous to me. I'd prefer to continue to call ourselves pro-Constitution or pro-freedom. It would be a waste of effort to be "anti" such a pitiful bunch of pathologically bitter and envious individuals.
To: IronJack
Free Republic is going to be as good or as bad as people make it. Good or bad is subjective. It's all about perspectives. There has always been discussion about what are thought to be 'legitimate' topics, and why people should refrain from dumbing down the discussions by including things like "Madonna's Raspberries" or "Caption Hitlery's Pic" or "What's Your Favorite R-rated Movie?".
The thing is, all of those topics are relevant if people think they are, and if they (as 'conservatives') have a need to discuss them, or even if they just want to have fun with a subject sometimes. There is no place else on the internet where you could find such a diverse group of people who will consider your POV, listen attentively, flame your ass off, and keep coming back.

Haven't you ever seen Strange Brew???? No. I'm allergic to Canadians. I break out in maple syrup.
Is that where the expression "hoser" comes from?
To: Howlin
Boy, for people who hate FR (whichis owned by an individual), these people sure like to lurk, post and make comments about it on other website.
Penis envy? Small man syndrome? Wounded egos?
Some people need lives of their own. Maybe they like Jim Robs life so much they want to assimilate it into theirs. I wish I had so much time to waste.
