"Santa Claus" is an Anglicization of San Nicklaas, the Dutch name for St. Nicholas. It has nothing to do with Satan.

Where do you get "San Nicklaas" ?? It's "Sinter Klaas" I believe, unless 1520 google matches are wrong. A much closer match to "Santa Claus," you'll note.

Christine O'Keeffe's Saint Nicholas page

He's clearly the origin of our Santa Claus via the Dutch in New York.

Well, in that case I don't know, I definitely got San Nicklaas rolling around my head from somewhere.
