There is one other little detail I don't think many people noticed when Bush gave his speech to congress: Usually the SCOTUS sits at State of the Union speeches, totally quiet, without any show of emotion or clapping etc.. Yet, during Bush's speech to congress outlining the war on terrorism, every member of the SCOTUS rose each time, with everybody else, and joined in the applause. Whether it's 9-0, 7-2, 6-3 or 5-4, it's clear that this SCOTUS will confirm precedent of FDR's tribunal case and slam dunk victory for Bush administration. And if there was still any doubt, remember the SCOTUS was also chased out of their building by Anthrax ...

Leahy was thrown off the Intelligence Committee in I believe 1987 for releasing a draft of a report that had been deemed unreleasable due to the classified information in it. He can not be trusted with classified information and John Ashcroft should tell him that to his face live and in color on national TV.

When Ashcroft is forced to waste his time in Senate hearings this week instead of protecting the nation from more terrorist attacks, he should remind them that there's no exemption for senators either.

ROTFLAMAO

I think I should adopt her.

She should read the Constitution thingy. Article I, Section 8...

You should read the War Powers Act before you make such grand statements, eh?

Though I am sublimely confident that the public will recognize for the sputtering fool that he is, I note that: We are at war. We have been at war since 8:48 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001.

classic!

This issue of whether or not war is declared is seperate from the question of whether we are at war.

Talk about "Must see TV". I'd pay to see that.

I was under the delusion that only Congress can declare war. Which it hasn't. Oh well, who needs a Constitution?

Go back and read the piece again. Coulter is simply pointing out the undeniable fact that it is possible for there to be a war even if Congress hasn't declared one. Here's her point, which is not debatable:

Wars can exist even if Congress does not declare them if, for example, thousands of civilians are slaughtered in a surprise attack on American soil.

Her point is that war was declared on us, therefore we are in a war.

This is in the "DUH" category. A bit beyond you, apparently.

Well, yes, our courts are open to try the cases alright. They were open for OJ too. NO THANKS Slime, I mean Senator.

Does anyone have the exact words of Shumer concerning this? He apparently called the terrorists something that amounted to "petty criminals". I am going ballistic over this, and want to find out just what he said before I contact him to complain.
