DASHTI QALA, Afghanistan - Several major media organizations pulled out of northern Afghanistan yesterday following the shooting death of a Swedish television correspondent as he slept in a guest house compound in Taloqan.
The BBC, known for its global coverage, pulled out its team, as did the major US broadcast networks. Reporters for Reuters exited, and spokesmen for the Associated Press and the Washington Post indicated that their reporters were planning to leave the region.

I guess the freedoms those "freedom-fighters" are fighting for don't include freedom of the press.....morons.
To: Cincinatus' Wife
Idiots. I'd have left as soon as I heard of the first death. These bozos wait until the eighth. Duh.

Huh?
The Wild West?
Do ya mean ta say them FREEDOM FIGHTERS [sic] no longer appeal to Reuters, et al?
It's absolutely appalling that so many lives were lost thus far -- I mean, really! Have so many press members been murdered in any earlier conflict, much less in SO short a time.
Those Taliban/al-Qaeda are ANIMALS.

These bozos wait until the eighth. Duh. I guess there are a lot of wanna-be reporters waiting in the wings for the big bucks and you never know, a good war might propel them to stardom.

Huh? The Wild West?Yeah, well they don't venture to middle America if they can help it.
To: meridia
These current 'journalists' just don't get it!!! They are out there doing Whorealdo immitations completely out of touch with the realities of WAR. Perhaps we could send Leaky Leahy over to demand an explanation for the killings.

Yes, I saw him wearing little glasses with red lenses. He's hard to miss.

Sounds to me like any correspondent who goes over there without packing is an idiot...
Wait, I am repeating myself.

How long before they demand that the US provide protection?Maybe they did. Why should our troops run the risk of dying because they have to baby-sit a reporter?
