To complement their lax attitude towards airport security and harboring terrorists, Greece is now imprisoning tourists on sham charges.

TWELVE British plane spotters accused of espionage in Greece will have to spend at least another 10 days in prison after their case was referred to a higher court by a district judge last night.

The Britons, who arrived at the court handcuffed together and left the same way, looked shocked when they were informed that they would be spending more time in jail.

She said: "It's disgusting. Greece is disgusting for allowing this. They allowed those people's hopes to be raised and then dashed those hopes. These people have done nothing wrong."

Mrs Coppin, 51, was visibly dismayed when told that she would be returning to the women's prison near Athens. The facility has had a reputation for violence and Mrs Coppin, a grandmother, had been sharing her dormitory with 14 other women.

The British men are being forced to sleep on thin mattresses on concrete floors, because of a lack of beds.
