I know this article has been posted in here several weeks before, but I feel this is a way we might possibly get Second Amendment rights back for people in New Jersey, California and other states that have eroding away Americans rights with harsh gun control laws.

The courts are ruling against us and Congress majority is now controlled by the Democrats, so that leaves the Presidency of the United States. We are slowly losing our right to keep and bear arms. This petition will be sent to John Ashcroft.

WE THE UNDERSIGNED AMERICANS do therefore petition John Ashcroft, Attorney General of the United States, to come to the immediate aid of American citizens residing in the state of California in order to restore to them the civil and human rights protected by the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution; And to use any and all powers at his disposal to redress the above-mentioned grievances by enforcing the Constitution of the United States, and to take any necessary action against the state of California and its officials to immediately restore the free exercise of the individual right to keep and bear arms in California and across the United States;

We are petitioning the Attorney General John Ashcroft to enforce the Second Amendment of the United States with California. We are hoping this will spread nationwide.

We intend to send a copy of the petition and signatures to President Bush also.

However, the petition is addressed to Attorney General Ashcroft because he has gone on record saying the Second Amendment is an individual right, and he oversees the federal agency that is tasked with enforcing civil rights laws. That said, in addition to sending us your signed Petition, we also think it's a fine idea for you to send a copy to any politician you think may be willing to support this, along with your personal letter urging them to do so.

If we can get you to have ten people sign this petition we could have thousands of signatures for John Ashcroft.

You may say that this is a waste of time -- I don't think it will work. What will? Do you have a better idea? We have been lobbying our legislators, writing letters, going to court, and look at how many of our rights have been eroded over the past twenty years. If they continue at this pace, what will we have left twenty years from now?

It's certain that if we do nothing, we will get nothing. Is that what you want to do, nothing?

Even if it doesn't work, at least we will know that the federal government, despite Mr. Ashcroft's stated belief, intends to let our right to keep and bear arms disappear -- we submit that knowing this will at least give us a better picture of where we stand, so that we can formulate and plan new strategies.

And how can it hurt? Are you truly unwilling to devote a few minutes of your time to this? And what if it does work?

I have gathered about 50 signatures for this petition so far. I hope to gather another 50 before I send my signatures off to the listed address. I won't be one of those people who complains and doesn't do one thing to help.
