The term "soccer mom" first came from Time Magazine around the time of the 1996 elections. According to them, a soccer mom is a woman who is defined primarily by her roles in serving her kids (and husband). She often so busy carting her kids from one event to the other that she doesn't follow politics closely. Rush has since used the term soccer mom to suggest that these women are mindless and vote based on emotion. I consider myself to be a soccermom, in the literal sense. I am very busy with family/school/church activites and consider that my primary function. But I consider myself to be one who follows poltics and who makes decisions based on reason and common sense.
