The national press didn't seem to listen to any of Bush's speeches, except to wait for a "gotcha" and then they played that over and over.
Recently on Imus, Howard Feinman called President Bush (in a manner praising his take-charge leadership) a "red-neck Texan." He said that the press had emphasized Bush's Andover, Yale and Harvard background too much during the campaign. They are slow, but they are finally getting it.
