[history]
If bioterrorists attack the United States with smallpox virus, health authorities could impose measures as drastic as banning public events, halting regional transport and placing entire cities under quarantine, according to a draft federal plan released yesterday.
The plan, by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, calls for stepped-up awareness by doctors, health officials and the public to be able to detect any outbreak of smallpox, a disease officially eradicated from the planet 21 years ago -- and to be able to respond quickly enough to stop it before a pandemic can sweep the nation.

Um...I really doubt many Libertarians would agree with you. A smallpox outbreak in today's age would be an extrodinary development. I would appreciate the Government protecting me from any idiots who might decide that they are going to break quarentine because "they're special, they can't be carrying anything."

The armed forces of freedom are the least free in this world. Wake up America. And that should be the case. The oath to bear arms to defend the US constitution implies giving up our freedoms to join the army and fight for freedom. Yes, the man of war precedes the free man, no civilization ever was founded on freedom, but on armed forces that were tyrannical.
Wake up utopian america and support bearing arms for your country.

Lets hope they are churning out vaccine as fast as possible, and that Leahy and Daschle have not managed to put a "hold" on it in hopes that Bush will be blamed for the resulting epidemic.
And let's also hope they will broom out all the ideologues and sex educators from our public health services, who think that pregnancy is the worst "disease" Americans are subject to, beginning with our lying, abortionist Surgeon General, so we will be in a position to deal with the crisis competently.

Great. For the sake of political correctness, let's intern whole cities of patriotic Americans, not America-hating, Osama-worshipping ragheads. And for the sake of political correctness, let's really destroy the economy. After all, political correctness is more important than America itself. Somebody pinch me.

a disease officially eradicated from the planet 21 years ago If you believe the "officially eradicated" line, there is some prime swampland in Floriduh to sell ya.
Truth be told, some Canadian workers came down with Smallpox after accidently excavating a graveyard about 30 years ago. Of course, they had been vaccinated in the Bad Old Days and the cases were mild because of it.
Now, thanks to the hubris of the UN WHO, a similar "Graveyard Incident" could wipe out the World!
Stop the Dam* "containment policy" and vaccinate everybody.
