Yes, the Eugene is a real irritant to my Dad. I once called him Eugene and I will never forget the expression on his face. There used to be a listing for Hal Gross in our hometown phone book and my sister and I couldn't resist calling and asking for him, then, giggling and hanging up. We were always looking up odd names in the phone book. We never were bored. Here in Germany there is actually a weather forcaster on AFN named Imo Lack. She has a very monotonous tone of voice too.

When I lived in Germany many years ago, there was an AFN announcer named John Profitt. (Actually, I don't know how his name was spelled, but the pronounciation was the same as 'profit.')

My socialist German roommates always snickered at that name.
