Anti-shyness drug holds promise for thousands

A new drug is helping people overcome their shyness.

It is being tested in trials in Glasgow and could be on the market next year.

The drug stimulates the brain to produce seratonin, which is the chemical that controls mood.

Doctors carrying out the study say they are encouraged by the results so far which have helped hundreds of people suffering from chronic shyness.

Dr Martin Turner, a consultant psychiatrist at Stobhill Hospital who is helping coordinate the trial, said: "For some people something as simple as attending a meeting or going to the pub will be a terrifying ordeal. They will then make excuses to avoid confronting their fears."

He said people should realise they suffer from a condition which can be treated and hopes Escitalopram will benefit thousands.

The trial are being carried out at the private HCI medical centre at Clydebank and will have involved 250 people by the end of May, reports The Daily Telegraph.

I go with the beer too, plus it has been tested on humans since ancient Egyptian times. The pharoah knows...hehe.

Oh gees, as if people had to repent for being shy. Bunch of marketing bull to me, like ritalin and ADHD.

And add a few shots of tequila and you will be the most outgoing person around.

Pills? We don't need no stinkin' pills!

If only there were a drug to make people shy. The world could be a much better place.

If one could have had it to use on Bill Clinton, for example.

Men:Beware

Rape Drug used on Men !!!
PLEASE READ THIS, IT'S IMPORTANT NEWS TO ALL GUYS THAT GO TO CLUBS OR BARS AND DRINK.

Guys, be more alert and cautious when getting a drink offer from a girl.
Girls out there, please forward this message to your male friends.
There is a potent new date rape drug on the market called beer. It is usually taken in liquid form and can be used by female sexual predators to convince their male victims to have sex with them.
The shocking statistic is that beer is available virtually anywhere! All girls have to do is buy a beer or two for almost any guy and simply ask the guy home for no-strings attached sex. Men are rendered totally helpless against such attacks.
Other street names for this drug include Bud, "cold one", cervesa, and brewski's.

I find it scary. There are drugs to make kids less hyper, now less shy, until everyone is of one personaltiy type. There is also plastic surgery to reduce differences. (One plastic surgeon said that he had no one wanting an ethnic look, everyone wanting Nordic features.) We already have the PC Thought Police to force us all to think and feel alike on an ever expanding number of topics. TV beams the same programs and ideas to the masses, our cities are looking more and more alike, and unique nature areas are destroyed for the ugliness of urban sprawl.

To some it is a dream come true. To me it's a nightmare.

I don't know anything about Escitalopram, but I can say that 5-HTP, Hydroxytryptophan, a natural product, an amino acid, promotes balanced Serotonin levels, and it does work. 5-HTP is apparently the immediate precursor of Serotonin. Good stuff, but a tolerance of sorts can be developed.

sounds to me like someone got the idea from ecstasy. A mild version that will afterall, do the same to the body and mind over time.
