"...demonrats..."Mmmmmm...since the very first Presidential race I worked on was Barry Goldwater's....are you SURE I'm a 'Democrat'?????
As for 'Intelectual Dishonesty'....would you care to point out where?
Or would you rather just engage in stupid 'cheap shots'???

NOT out of context at all. Then you read something else.

When Clinton issued 'Executive Orders' that were wrong...and blatantly Un-Constitutional...I spoke up.
When GWB does the same.......I will speak up.
Sadly, most of those who spoke up against Clinton's EO's....now assume that GWB's are perfectly fine.
Since he's a Republican.
What's wrong is wrong...no matter who does it.

So...you're trying to insinuate that Barry Goldwater wasn't a 'conservative'???????
Not only is that STUPID...but I guess it illustrate's better than I ever could the utter ignorance of the modern Republican.

What's unconstitutional about a military tribunal for non-citizens?
To: redrock
I guess your revering of Goldwater continued through his marriage to a gal about 40 yrs. his junior, his switch to pro choice, his support for the homosexual agenda and his general tilt about as far leftward as one could go.......sounds just like you!!
To: Balding_Eagle
A military tribunal CAN exist for non-citizens....provided that a Congressional Declaration of War exists.
Such as the case at Nuremburg....etc.
Otherwise.....we just have a Presidential DECREE...sort of like a real Dictator.
But then...Congress has abdicated it's responsibilities...much like most citizens.

I also knew we couldnt bomb our way to achieve our objective. We could bomb our way to help achieve the objective. And, therefore, I knew full well that we would have troops on the ground. This this is why I voted for this man. And sent him my first check before he'd chosen Cheney as his running mate.

To: Aedammair
Once an 'Official' Declaration of War exists...then some of those non-citizens become 'combatants'...and fall under Military Courts.

Why wouldnt you say hes evil, then? He aint good.

This Newsweek issue is definitely one worth purchasing, for the Bush pictures alone. Besides, as someone else put it, since Hillary's in Time this week, let's boost Newsweek's circulation and show what we really want to read about.

What a wonderful post! Thank you. I really enjoyed reading it. After President Bush took the oath of office I actually slept longer than I have in years. Crazy? I don't think so. Somehow, I felt safer with Klintoon actually GONE!
One of the things I asked him during the campaign (via email) was to end put an end to executive orders shortly after he issued an executive order REPEALING ALL OF THEM! Can you just imagine that happening? It's true, redrock, if this had been Clinton we would have been screaming bloody murder! I was here when it happened!I don't have a problem with this President or any President having War Powers with the framework of the Constitution. I also found these links interesting. War & Emergency Power Report The following from The Executive Order
THE EXECUTIVE ORDER IN TIME OF WAR Many of the fears of the founding fathers may now be coming to fruition. Today, the executive branch of the government is immensely powerful, much more powerful than the founding fathers had envisioned or wanted. Congressional legislative powers have been usurped. There is no greater example of that usurpation than in the form of the Presidential Executive Order. The process totally by-passes Congressional legislative authority and places in the hands of the President almost unilateral power. The Executive Order governs everything from the Flag Code of the United States to the ability to single-handedly declare Martial Law. Presidents have used the Executive Order in times of emergencies to override the Constitution of the United States and the Congress.
