Ian Smith attempted to build a middle ground...he wanted to introduce a "republic" form of government after declaring independence from England....however this did not sit well with the UN Great Britain and the US....Kissinger and Carter were more concerned with pandering to the American black vote UK and UN....Rhodesian's were sold down the river..just like SA soon to be added to the list Israel,South Korea and Taiwan.....what are friends for!
