Actually your'e spot on. Tell me, the monk who walked into a furnace for some alleged impure thought or deed, was he not crazy? Or that crazy "saint" who licked the sores of lepers?
And what of the pagans who endured death at the hands of Christians and Muslims? Apparently they also believed they had the truth.

Apparently they also believed they had the truth. Yes, there is a difference for dying for a "belief" in something faithfully and dying for something which actually was witnessed by your own eyes. No faith is required.

Evidently, Paul the apostle faced an angry mob of unfulfilled Jews in the 23rd Chapter of the book of Acts.
It was the Pharisees that believed in the resurection of the dead. The Sadducees did not.
That's why they were Sad, you see.
