I noticed you bravely ran from the question of naming 50 people who want to ban Potter. I'll leave you to your Christian boogeymen that live under your bed. At least until you and your friends start building the camps to house the focus of your stained-sheet paranoia.

Actually Appy, I know we are far removed from the original article, but in it there is this passage:

The American Library Association says there have been attempts in at least 13 states to ban the book from schools and public libraries.

So, the idea of "boogeymen" is not that far-fetched. There are people who want to ban the book. There was also an incident in Pittsburgh last year(?) in which a local church held a book burning in which the HP series held center stage.

I noticed you bravely ran from the question of naming 50 people who want to ban Potter.

You mean individual names like Eric Poliner, Gary Feenstra, Caryl Matrisciana, Patrick Matrisciana, Pat Robertson, David Williamson, Elizabeth Mounce, Stephen Mounce, Rev. Dan Larson, David Williamson, Cynthia Kersey, Rev. Robert McGee, or groups such as Family Friendly Libraries, Focus on the Family, Family Research Council, Eagle Forum...? How about a little sample of anonymous posters from ABCNEWS.go.com. Do anonymous people count?

Should We Ban Harry Potter?
"The Harry Potter books do teach a religion — a religion of satanic worship. It's just packaged neatly in entertaining books to hook children." — janice2560

"Harry Potter takes a soft-porn approach to witchcraft. Would you give your kids Playboy in the hopes they would grow up into kiddy porn peddlers? Think it is innocent if you like." — TrishJD7

"This is not a game. This is REAL. People's souls and even their mortal lives are at stake. Please, do not treat this like just a 'fantasy.'" — DianeDiablo

"Witches, magic, sorcerers, spells, and the like ARE undeniably related to the occult.…Why would we applaud the child that turns off the TV and opens up a Potter book?" — 2Peter3Nine

"I am amazed that out of the same mouth that says 'God bless America' comes 'Let them read Harry Potter books.' Those books are against God and all He stands for." — athomemom7

"The Harry Potter series is a tremendous threat to the children of this country. Satanism is alive and well in today's society and this cult relies on the ignorance of masses to further their cause." — irises1958

I'm not running from your question. It's just that it's a stupid question, like asking for a list of 84 people who object to Britney Spears outfit at the MTV Awards. You asked a stupid question.

At least until you and your friends start building the camps to house the focus of your stained-sheet paranoia.

LOL, This from a man who's running around these threads like a chicken with his head cut off, screaming about a children's book turning people into real, honest-to-gosh, witches. That's rich. What's next, boxes of Lucky Charms causes kids to become leprechauns? (just to throw my own strawman out there)

Well, this has been fun. Talk to you later, my HurdyGurdy friend.
