I didn't say that I prayed to the DEAD ( unless you consider that Jesus was cruicied, died, and was buried, and on the third day, he arose from the dead . des that make hi the resurect LORD, but still dead, to you ? Is GOD, the Father DEAD ? Hmmmmmmmm ) , but that my daughter and I had prayed FOR my mother, through her illness, and that through GOD's granting us strength and peace, we managed to make it through her death. It's now a SIN / blasphemy to pray for the ill and dying , and to ask GOD's helpe in seeing the family through such events ? I am utterly baffled by your consistant replies, which twist other people's words. put extranious words, which they NEVER typed, into their muths, and then posit that YOU and ONLY you understand what is in the Bible, and GOD's heart and mind.

I hate to keep quoting that pesky "book"..but to be absent from the body is to be present to God...praying for the dead is to believe that you have some effect in the outcome of god's judgement.

If that is the type of "compassion" your church and god teach..then I NEVER WANT ANY PART OF IT. The God I believe in is one of comforting. He knows how much we hurt when we lose someone. His Own Son Jesus CRIED OUT LOUD when Lazarus died. Grief IS COMFORTED by prayer.

I prayed to GOD, of course, and sang " JESUS LOVES ME THIS I KMOW " a lot, as well as " ABIDE WITH ME " and " A MIGHTY FORTRESS IS OUR GOD " Would you also like to know what qwords I used to pray ? What a 2 year old child said ? Does it even matter to you that I thanked GOD for delivering my beloved mother from her pain, but asked HIM for the strength and wisdom to get through missing her ? Yes, I told HIM that I was happy that she was with HIM and thanked HIM for what few precious years my mother and I had had together. You really want PERSONAL stuff , just so that you can twist my words, insult me, and try to prove that you are such a superior being, that only YOU can understand the word of GOD.

Guess what ? In the NT, it says ( and I am paraphrashing here ) that the DEVIL knows the scriptures better than anyone, and glibly quotes it, to refute any argument. See any pattern here ?

Unlike you, I don't wear my religion on my sleeve, nor shout to the rooftops, just how wise I am, and how no one else understands what GOD's words mean.
