I think it's apples and oranges and that there is no comparison between the two. Look at things through the eyes of 1860 instead of today. The activities of the Nazi's would have been as repulsive then as they were in 1940. Mass murder is mass murder. But slavery as an institution was was not against the law in the U.S. The south rebelled in defense of an unfair but entirely legal institution. The north responded to the rebellion, not the outlaw slavery.
