U.S. Attorney wins conviction of 'Million Mom' activist Barbara Graham.

Many of you have followed the saga of Barbara Graham. She was the outspoken activist for the "Million Mom March" who, while advocating for our disarmament, used an illegally-owned "assault pistol" to shoot and paralyze an innocent man.

Ms. Graham was defended all through her trial by fellow MMM activists who apparently saw no hypocrisy at all in their support of a woman who illegally possessed an unregistered TEC-9 "assault pistol" (as well as other unregistered guns) in a city where all handgun possession is outlawed, and who used that gun to shoot an innocent man in the back because she wanted revenge for the shooting of one of her relatives.

Well this press release from the U.S. Department of Justice tells the rest of the story:

U.S. Department of Justice

Wilma A. Lewis
United States Attorney for the District of Columbia

Judiciary Center
555 4th Street, N.W.
Washington, D.C. 20001

PRESS RELEASE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 5, 2001 For Information Contact Public Affairs Channing Phillips (202)514-6933

Second defendant convicted of all nine charges for shooting and paralyzing unarmed and innocent young man

Washington, D.C. - United States Attorney Wilma A. Lewis announced that Erskine Moorer, age 30, of Ft. Washington, MD, was convicted today by a Superior Court jury of all nine charged counts which included Assault With Intent To Kill While Armed, Aggravated Assault While Armed, Mayhem While Armed, three separate counts of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime Of Violence, and other related gun charges. Moorer's co-defendant, Barbara Graham, age 49, of Capitol Heights, Maryland, was convicted of the same charges last Thursday. Both defendants face up to life imprisonment when they are sentenced later this year.

According to the government's evidence presented at trial, on January 26, 2000, at approximately 6:10 p.m., Barbara Graham approached a young 22-year-old man by the name of Kikko Smith and asked him his name. Mr. Smith responded to her question and stated yes my name is Kikko, where upon Ms. Graham, reached inside her purse and pulled out a handgun with an extended clip and began to chase Mr. Smith. Mr. Smith ran for his life and then was shot at and hit a number of times by Graham and her daughter's long term boyfriend, Erskine Moorer. One of the bullets struck Mr. Smith in his back, breaking his rib, collapsing his lung and eventually shattering his spine. Other shots, struck Mr. Smith in his foot and head. Due to this incident, Mr. Smith has spent over a year in either hospitals or assisted living facilities. He is confined to a wheel chair and has no movement from the waist down.

In announcing the guilty verdicts, U.S. Attorney Lewis commended the injured victim, Kikko Smith and his family for his courage, and the investigative work of Metropolitan Police Department Detectives A.D. Williams, Lt. C.V. Morris, Willie Jefferson, Bruce Faison, Rita McCoy, Susan Blue, John Rhodes, Don Juan Monroe, Jamel Mayhew, Phillipe Moore, Donita Giles, Robert Mitchell, Anthony Mable, Wayne Marable, Demetrica "Flash" Cater, Gregory Stewart, Anthony Johnson, Edward Torrence, J.V. Francis, and, Officers John Regan, Michael Whiteside, Calvin Hopkins, Ramonz Height, James Savage, Mary Mingo, J.D. Smith, and MPD and ATF firearms-tool marks examiners Torin Suber and Walter Dandridge. In addition, special thanks is given to former MPD Officer, and now Strurbridge Massachusetts Officer, Paul Newsham, for his assistance while still with MPD. A special note of thanks is also extended to Ms. Diane Hobdy, Leslie Faucette, Debbie Cannon and David Foster from the Victim Witness Assistance section for their help. Ms. Lewis also commended the work of paralegal specialists Marion Russell and Wanda Trice and Assistant United States Attorneys Diana Harris Epps and Leutrell Osborne II who indicted and prosecuted the case at trial.

MCRGO NOTE: The Million Moms have stated time and time again that they want every city and town in America to have gun laws like Washington D.C. has. But they themselves have proven that they can't even live under the laws that they desired in their own little utopia. I guess what they want is a world where everyone is disarmed except the Million Moms.

This above statement is wrong.
Should be ......everyone is disarmed except the LIBERALS.

AS you know everytime the liberals get a new gun law they know they will get the wink and nod. Like Rossies bodygaurds they get guns and carry permits. Think you can buy what you want and carry anywhere like her guards can? You see Rossie is more valuable to society than you and I are, so they need the special treatment.

Worked for the Soviet Union, why wouldn't it work here.

You know the liberal mantra: Do as I say not as I do!! Kinda of like the time Dick Gephardt drove up to a meeting, bashing Bush about the environment, in a SUV. HMM........

These people aren't liberals. They are left-wing, anti-American communists. Remember that Chuck Heston is a liberal.

A TEC-9 ? I find it interesting that this anti-gun Liberal fell in love with a little black grease gun.
Life plus 20 would be about right.

Too damn bad that young Mr. Smith was forcibly disarmed by the government before these vicious terrorists decided to try to kill him. Justice is more or less served here, but would have been served better if Mr. Smith had not been prevented by law from effectively defending himself.

Im not sure if you have read the entire story on this, but its not quite like she just walked up to this guy for no reason and shot him(Im not defending her, read on). Somone killed her son. I believe it was drug/gang related. Through "sources", she determined it was this "Kiko" guy that did it. She was wrong, obviously, and shot him. I seriously doubt that anyone involved would have been a legal gun owner anywhere in the country. Im pretty sure the guy she shot was a gang banger or a low leverl dealer.

This is the salient point. This terrorist vigilante wanna-be b!@#h shot the wrong guy. That she "researched" her little vendetta makes it even worse. Mr. Smith may be a fairly unsavoury sort, but this doesn't mean he has no right to defend himself.

Believe it or not, the Washington ComPost even covered this story - from time to time mentioning Graham's MMM connections.

I'm pretty sure you are right but it doesn't matter and doesn't need to be stated.

One of the MMM's loudly and publicly worked to disarm lawful citizens while herself possessing several banned assault weapons she used attempting to committ a first degree murder. It's lucky she didn't harm additional innocent passers-by.

That's all we need to say.
