Do you think that this indicates a lower sea level at that time. That's my thinking.
According to the
Oak Ridge National Laboratory the last glacier maximum was at about 15,000 years ago. The last Ice Age ended about 11,000 years ago, but was punctuated by cold snaps at 9,500 8,000 6,000 4,000 and 2,000 years ago, sort of an oscillation. If it was cold enough during this period to lower the waterline of the entire ocean, I don't know.
If whoever build this thing did so in a place that was under water at high tide, wouldn't the wood have rotted away before being preserved in peat?
