I screw up the words "irradiate", "exacerbate", and "redistricting" every time I say them yet I know exactly what they are and mean.

It HAS to be a conscious decision. You know the whole staff has had meetings about that particular word, and Bush probably vetoed any nincompoop idea that he should change who he is.
