Ack! Libertarians are not Liberal. Liberal are socialists. Libertarians are the opposite of socialists. However, cultural conservatives, at least the kind that want government to prohibit porn, drugs, immigrants, foreign trade, etc are SOCIALISTic and are closer to Liberals in that regard than Libertarians would ever be.
Libertarians are consistently anti-socialistic. Cultural conservatives are as socialistic as liberals, just in different topics.

I vehemently disagree. The socialist mantra is 'From each acording to his substance ... to each according to his need.' This has nothing to do with what a conservative believes about society conforming to a system of law and from where that law derives.

It almost sounds like "pure Libertarians" would want murder legalized too. Do they?

True Libertarians are not statist Liberals, but the Libertarian Party attracts to its ranks many, many Liberals with the usual Liberal agenda. Thus, they camouflage themselves as "progressives" in the Libertarian tent. True Libertarians are soul brothers of the anarchists. That's why anarchists are often called Libertarians who like to brawl; they're the rowdy element in the Party. How do statist Liberals and anarchists end up in the same Party with Libertarians? A shared vision: No rules except the ones they want.
