Hi Alamo-Girl... I seriously doubt that they are a student, as really..... I'm positive that the FBI has checked EVERY student of the past fifteen years who ever had access to a bio-lab.... and that, therefore, IF the Anthrax Perp here on a student visa they'd already be caught.

Indeed, they may be in custody. Perhaps that is why we haven't seen any new anthrax attacks?
On the other issue, I was wondering if an accomplished Al Queda scientist might have used a student visa (falsely, like so many others did) to enter the country and then gain access to sophisticated lab equipment.
In that scenario, the lab managers would not have suspected a "student" and might have let their guard down. IMHO, it would be a workable deception for Al Queda. Just thinking out loud...
To: Alamo-Girl
Hi, it is my belief, and I could be entirely MISTAKEN, but it is my sincere belief that ALL SCIENTISTS with access to labs capable of anthrax manufacture have already notified the FBI of ANY foreign individual who had authorized access to the equipment at any time over the past fifteen years. I've known scientists and I've visited university labs, and I believe that people who are in the hard sciences, of which biomedicine definitely is one.... would be VERY forthcoming to the FBI. Not only is that the *type* of people they tend to be, but see, so many of them have been, or their close professional friends, have been under threat of life from the Animal "rights" folks....
So.... it is my supposition that the FBI does NOT need to FIND information about any foreign students who have EVER used such a laboratory... I think they probably were give THOUSANDS of such names, from all over the country, by thousands of tipsters. Therefore, I think it would be extremely hard to *hide* under the student visa scenario.

"'In the very near future we can almost certainly expect biological weapons to be used by various terrorist organizations. This makes it imperative that the citizens of North America obtain the necessary knowledge and skills to protect themselves against this emerging threat.' -- Former CIA microbiologist Larry Harris" Harris is now claiming to be former CIA? Isn't that special. *chuckle*
JoeEveryman did some research on him that he posted on a thread here a few weeks back. Harris is tied in with some heavy duty white-supremecy outfits, and went on record in an interview saying that he thought he might have to use anthrax against the USA. Yes, you heard me right -- he threatened to use in against our country.
Given his affiliations, his known history of having manufactured anthrax, and his threats to use it against the country, and I don't think I need to draw you a picture.

Thanks for the insight, meridia!

Yep, and I bet the Red Cross even gave them the starter virus, Ames virus. The FBI needs to check that out.
To: Alamo-Girl
Listen, I could be entirely wrong... but, frankly, those scientists are SO smart, so intense, and... NO NONSENSE... especially in light of THIS vile situation where bioterrorism seems to be a clear & present danger. So... the FBI has LOTS of *help* from many brilliant Americans who would have immediately thought what YOU brought up, and I'm sure they're still exploring records on student visas -- AND known friends of persons with student visas who might have accessed their labs.

Harris was arrested for claiming to have anthrax, but the substance was anthrax vaccine. As you say, Harris aligns himself with the Aryan white separatists, and I sincerely doubt he EVER worked for the CIA, LOLOLOLLOLOL!!

Can I blame my error on media saturation of anthrax???
The media hyped this story ad nauseam and I reached a point where everytime I heard the word anthrax, my remote would automatically flip to the next news channel. Must have flipped one time when I shouldn't have, and missed something that was actually new news on the subject.
But apparently I can count on you guys to correct me, because I can say with certainty that that is not my first mistake, nor will it be my last.

Truly, I would like to believe that every scientist working in biotechnology labs in the U.S. are patriotic. My daughter has been working in such labs for years and certainly she is patriotic!!!
So far however she has worked with the following PhD's: 2 from Russia, 1 from Hungary, 1 from India, 1 from England, 2 from China, 2 from Japan, 1 from Central America (forgot with nation state,) and 1 from San Francisco. I have no reason to doubt their allegiance, but the ratios are troubling to me.
I'd be much happier to know some investigators are keeping an eye on the labs.
