This outstanding work has stood for about a hundred years, virtually unchallenged in scope or scholarship. The seminal and definitive work in this field of study. Figures of speech are used throughout the Bible. It is unfortunate when they are interpreted literally.

Maybe so, but some need no interpertation. "Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist,he who denies the Father an the Son." I John 2:22 "For many decievers, have gone out into the world, men who will not acknowledge the coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh; such a one is the deceiver and the antichrist" II John 1:7 "Children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that antichrist is coming, so many antichrists have come; therefore we know that it is the last hour."
