Bush briefly discussed the ID card option with British Prime Minister Tony Blair, according to insiders. Just as House Democratic Leader Richard Gephardt [D-MO] says Congress should quickly move to open debate on security measures such as a national ID card. "We are in a new world," Gephardt said. The Clinton Administration then extracted the various pieces from the various bills, two of which were illegally passed, and assigned the task to implementing a national drivers license (a clone of the European Union national ID card) to the National Transportation Safety Board. The internal passport will go into effect on October 1, 1999. In 1996 when Congress passed the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act. certain guidelines found in Section 656 (b) of the act. Federal agencies will be required to prohibit the use of state drivers licenses beginning Oct. 1, 2000, unless they comply with the federal standards. The new licenses must use the Social Security number as the driver's license number, for example. The act also calls for digitized biometric information to be a part of each license, or "smart card." Former Secretary of Defense William Cohen said Americans will be forced to make "choices between security and civil liberties." NBC's Tom Brokaw said, "We're going to have to reconsider a lot of our freedoms because of our attack." Representive Frank D. Lucas (R-OK) said, "If we were going to be absolutely safe, we'd have to restrict people's freedoms to the point that it wouldn't be America anymore."

I lean toward the pre-trib position, but I am really pan-trib (meaning I believe it will all pan out according to God's plan). But, I'm taking no chances. IF we are still around, no mark for me or my family. We'll live in the woods and eat berries first.

Sounds like someone from the legal profession. Lawyers are twisters of words. They become so good at changing prospective that its unlikely they remember where the _truth_ is. They come to believe that man's law is God's law.

The truth of the situation will dawn on the majority of people well after it is too late; just like it did in WWII Germany; for _many_ of the very same reasons. A government that reaches into private human life is a fascist government. Changing the name of the groups that push the agenda from National Socialists, to Democrat or (apparently) Republican, doesn't matter.

You are either for the US Constitution and the limited government that it enumerates or you are a lawyer, busy twisting words around to suit your purposes.

The card may not be worn there, but that certainly is where the biometric data is gathered from! Think retnal scan and thumbprint, then recall that the Revelation 13 passage about the mark of the beast was written in the late first century, where John had very little understanding of the technology that he was prophetically shown. It isn't a big leap in logic to presume that these biometric marks are what he was referring to. Time will tell though.

This is part of an enlightening article written by Thomas Franklin. Requiring that every man, woman, and child's Social Security number is registered in a national database before that individual is allowed to work and earn a living. They are doing it in a much better way: by helping the parents with a "tax credit" for each child--as long as the child is properly stamped with a Social Security number. By being the financial sponsors of all of these heart-wrenching efforts to save the children using national ID numbers, and by financially exiling or ruining any nation, leader, or politician who won't "get with the program." This is my guess, and it's only a guess based on watching how one thing follows another, and how things seem to be shaking out.

The government, any government world wide, in attempting to fix something that is bad always institutes something that is worse. Sooner or later their attention will turn to the high interest rates charged on credit cards. The government is going to want it's part of that action, and will issue it's own credit/debit card, or in conjunction with banks manage to find a way to dip it's beak a little.

It won't be suprising to see the NID also be used to charge things at a much lower interest rate than is charged by banks, or it may be able to track purchases, it gives the IRS the perfect vehicle to know exactly how much money everyone has and their spending habits which, if they want, can be sold to merchandizers. This is not the mark of the beast, people may have credit cards, or one national id, or an implant in your right hand that a scanner can pick up, but they will become useless eventually unless the mark of the beast is also present in your hand or forehead. The ink that could be used for this is already available, it's invisible to the naked eye, yet can be picked up by scanner, there are many things that can be used.

All these things are incremental, one harmless step at a time, until after the trap is set, not by man, but by Satan, the one who I believe is behind all the conspiracy theories. It just makes those in government think a person is nuts to think they are engaged in some conspiracy other than to cover their on guilty tracks. It makes them think you are just as nuts to believe there will be a world dictator.

Just imagine using these cards or id's world wide for a number of years, only to have a world dictator take over and demand his mark on you before you are able to buy or sell, and you, unlucky soul, are already registered in the system. A sudden stop of activity in your accounts or card will send a red flag that says, investigate this.

Some, that study the prophecies of the bible, and believe the USofA to be Babylon, feel that we won't be around for the mark anyway, as we are destroyed in a plot cooked up by the anti-Christ to destroy us in one hour and step into the void we create as a world power. Pre-Ben Ladin, the idea that one individual could influence a group of nations to destroy the USofA would have been snickered at, but as time passes all things are revealed.

Nate - take a deep breath - and a good class in hermeneutics. It might clear up your inability to rightly divide the word of God.

Regardless of whether or not you think the mark is literal or figurative, I don't plan on being here for it. However, if you're suggesting that I've already taken it or that I'm destined for hell because I don't take your position on the tribulation, then you've clearly come to sow seeds of dissention among the brethren.
