Certainly a different perspective on Potter. I find this a little suprising given the Objectivist opposition to "mysticism"

It is an interesting take on the Harry Potter mania.

EXCELLENT MOVIE!!! If you read any of the books you will be pasted to your seat. It is true to the book.
YOU WILL ENJOY IT!!!!

There seems to be quite a divide between this movie though. Some think it's completely wrong, others like it. If you look at as a story (fiction), and compare it to some cartoons and sit-coms, I don't think it's so terrible. That's JMHO.

I can't wait to see it. After Saturday, I'll come back to discuss.

The Harry Potter series appeals to so many children (and, incidentally, adults)
because the answers it gives to these questions are overwhelmingly positive. Yes, this is the classic tale of good vs. evil told by a wonderfully gifted writer who makes clear that good prevails.
Finally, a sane response to the HP phenomenon.
Bump for the Ayn Rand Institute!

Doesn't anyone else find it funny when materialists talk about good and evil? And objective moral standards, no less.

Ummm, no.

This is the only reply I'm going to post on the Harry Potter phenomenon. I tried to read the first book but it immediately struck me that the children had no claim to moral superiority. All their ethics were situational and not based on any moral doctrine whatsoever. If this is objectivism then it must be rejected as a step backward for civilization.

"I find this a little suprising given the Objectivist opposition to "mysticism."
It would not be surprising to G.K. Chesterton, who once wrote: "Those who will not believe in God will believe in anything."

Now we all have to give our kids "Harry Potter" to win the war!
Has anyone alerted Rumsfeld?

More truth than many of the discussions here on FR.
