I forget the exact question from the media, but someone in the media asked why we were doing some particular military activity (bombing I think). Rumsfields response ....

"Our purpose is to kill people..."

Also, on Thursday someone asked him what our strategy was to deal with the retreating Taliban forces.

Rumsfield said "we intend to destroy them".
