USO Canteen Freeper Style
War has come to our shores. It was committed on American soil. We have been able to live in Freedom only because of those who have fought in the past wars giving life, limb and all the sacrifices for us to live in Freedom and go about our day without fear.
On September 11, 2001, that comfort, that feeling of living in a land that would not be attacked ended.
William T. Sherman said it succinctly, "War is hell."
The day has come for this Nation and its people to understand that there is a risk in losing its freedom, and in reality there always has been. We have ONLY stayed free because of the sacrifices of our military, our warriors.
This is about saving the future of America. Aristotle said, "We make war that we may live in peace."
We are seeing the American Flag flying at homes now more than ever in my lifetime. We are seeing the American Flag flying on vehicles and people wearing Flag pins and small Flags on their clothes. America is united in the cause for Freedom and for our country to WIN against the evil that came upon our land to kill and hurt us. To change our way of life and to destroy America which is US, you and me. To take away our precious Freedom.
This is the Freeper version of the USO Canteen. Where soldiers could come and feel a small part of being at home. It is a place where you that have family in the military can post a thought to a loved one that might be able to read it far away from home. A place where we that support our military can help support them, post to them, fun graphics showing the price in America and our troops. Poems, quotes, cartoons, or articles of how America is behind our troops.
Those in our military are our Nation's warriors. Let us join hands, fly our Flag and let the world know how important our warriors are to us....And that our MILITARY, our Warriors, are America's TRUE HEROS!
"No Marine was ever honored for what they received. Honor was the reward for what they gave." (Anonymous) CHIEF gave his all in many ways. He touched our lives and his friendship meant so much to all of us. He will live in our hearts forever, and his friendship will always be a bright and shining memory in our hearts and souls.

I read your replies from the end of yesterday's thread - just bringing you over here. They've been serving Margaritas since lunch. Happy hour may be sleepy hour if it keeps up. :^) (Still no calories - throw away that beer, Mud)

Blame it on DDSure, Blame it on me. I can't help it if I'm going deaf and dumb in both eyes.
I think you're onto something though since they opened the bar earlier than usual.

I posted this on another thread.
With the Capitol in the background, repair work continues at the Pentagon.
Let us not forget our Pentagon. I wanted to share this with all of you. The other day I had an appointment with my suregon. He works a hop and skip from the Pentagon. We drove by the Pentagon and the cleaning is coming right along. Across the street, there is a make shift memorial filled with flowers and letters and pictures of the missing. It's all so moving. I hope to take my camera next time I'm up there and take pictures to share with ya all if you'd like.
I told Mr Teacup to send you a picture, and he asked "WHY???" I told him why and he started looking thur all his photo albums trying to find just the right picture, LOL,LOL. He's so cute. I'll ask him again this week end. He's been gone all week on a business trip. Should be here any minuet now.

My daughter and everyone else involved are fine. It's just gonna be the hassle involved in repairs and claims.
Thanks for asking.

What a great picture! Ahem! I think your next post sort of gave it away. The cat's out of the bag, Spatzie! Well, that plus I know it's not me and it's not Snow Bunny, and you didn't address it to anyone else but the three of us!

Can't fool you, Billie. But you might try to rearrange her into an appropriate period uniform, if you can find something suitable- though what she has fits in pretty well.

Good evening my FRiends;
I've been away for awhile, and have missed FR very much. I have a little story for you all.
When I started back to school after 22 years, I was a little apprehensive; after all, I heard daily about the anti-U.S. propaganda teachers and administrators were filling kids with, and I knew I wouldn't sit silent if I heard one word of it (I did hear some, and I did speak out rather loudly, but that's another story). But on Nov. 9th, our school held a Veteran's Day assembly in the main auditorium. It seems that one of the teachers suggested it and the students ran with it.
First, the Pledge of Allegiance, recited by all present. An Army Color Guard presented the Flag in a room absolutely silent save for the sound of their footsteps. A young lady with the voice of an angel sang the National Anthem. A state trooper sang "God Bless the U.S.A". A teacher/veteran spoke about patriotism, about the honor of serving his country as his ancestors had done for over 150 years. Every student and teacher who was a veteran was recognized, and presented with a Flag pin and a button honoring their military service. Lastly, a recording by John Wayne telling the story of the song "Taps" was played, while a video screen showed the Flag waving at Arlington National Cemetary. It was one of the most moving experiences of my life, and there were very few dry eyes when it was over.
I only wish every veteran in this country could be recognized the way our vets were that day. They deserve so much more, but at least we can say "Thank you for your service, and your sacrifices. We breathe free because you went in harm's way, and those who fell will never be forgotten."
Thank you, Billie and Snow Bunny, for making this place where we can sound off.
