No they don't. Don't give up on W so quickly. I don't envy anyone tasked with explaining this. If you tell what most thinking people would say is the truth, that one way or another this was a terrorist action then you could conceivably kill the airline industry and with it any hopes for reviving the economy. When the economy really dives, and we ain't seen nothin' yet, alot of people will be suffering...big time. Just think back toi the Carter administration, and those may seem to be the good old days if the airline industry really tanks.
On the other hand if you decide you can't risk killing the airlines, you put a whole lot of people travelling next week and next month and so on at an unacceptable risk.
I think that they've got to tell the truth...and come up with a plan to make air travel safe from terrorists. For starters they need to thoroughly investigate any baggage handler, mechanic, ground crew or anyone else working at airports who can get close to a plane. No time for nice-nice here...get rid of moslems and arab immigrants. Move them to another job...something. But I think it's terribly important that the gov't tell the truth and start rebuilding America's confidence in gov't. These last eight years have been hell. It's time for a real fresh start.
