Perhaps the author could actually read the 1st Amendment.
It says "Congress shall make no law... abridging the freedom of speech." This is referring to criminal penalties.
Absolutely no relevance to employment.

Boo Hoo. Smell the martyrdom.
I'm sure Nora Vincent would feel the same way about a a UT professor organizing an Aryan Nations rally on campus, where he gives a speech denying the Holocaust. Or if ABC cancelled "Politically Incorrect with Fred Phelps."

Are you for real? Are you really saying that employment allows free speech at any time and any place? When you take a job you agree to certain expecations and 2nd amendment rights do not guarentee you the right to say whatever you like whenever you want! You have a contract with the employer who can limit your free speech (while at work)as they desire and you have the RIGHT to quit your job if this conflicts with your ideals.
It seems that only teachers think this is not applicable to them. They have a captive audience that are told that the professor is always right and to pay attention.
