Yeah. It all started with Mrs. O'Hare. That's the problem. Nothing to do with the French Revolution, or the Thirty Years' War, or Original Sin, or anything like that.

He let it happen because He respects peoples' free will -- even the free will to do terrible evil. Anything less and we would just be puppets.

Conversely, I do not believe that God kills innocent people just to "teach us a lesson." God can make good come out of evil, but he will never cause the evil himself.

The question of "Why did God let xxxx happen?", where the "xxxx" can be any tragedy great or small, has been one for the ages. The answer, to anyone who knows God through His Word is pretty straightforward, and very logical.

It is indeed ironic that so many who will not acknowledge or respect God will immediately blame Him for every evil in this world. September 11 was God's fault? Any objective person can see that such twisted logic comes only from the Liar himself, the author of evil, Satan.

God is GOOD! Satan is evil! God grants true FREEDOM, while Satan offers men and women Taliban-like bondage. Unfortunately, both good and evil people on this earth have the same freedom to sin, and that sin has consequences that effects both innocents and the wicked.

You born-again types really have a way of reducing the eternal mind creator of this universe into some kind of Zeus-like God who sits on a throne and is consumed by casting disasters down upon us little people when we don't behave as we should. I don't buy it.

Yeah you're right, the people of America are very very righteous and shouldn't be concerned about their own actions...(are you sure you're conservative???) ...are you sure YOU aren't a born-again type???

If you are Greek, that is not the question. The question is, why did God let AD 1453 happen?

If you are a resident of Jerusalem, it is, why did God let AD 638 happen?

Post # 30 is right on. There is no mention of choice in the Bible. This is something we hang on to to make us feel better. Some vessles are made for destruction. Did Judas have a choice, or was he chosen to do the deed from the foundation of the earth? Did Lazarus have the choice to stay in the grave? If I was saved from the foundation, and Jesus was crcified from the foundation, we have very little to say about it. My God is an all powerfull God and has overcome the world. I doubt if I could change one thing in His plan. Sept 11th happened because it was time to happen. We aren't promised 1 more hour. If we have the choice to repent, then Revelation doesn't have to happen, but you know it will, because God said it will. We will not repent, as you can see on this website, and we are suposed to be the "good" guys. God judges souls when they die, but can judge a country anytime He chooses. God doesn't drape Himself in the American flag. There isn't even a garauntee the USA will even be a factor in the end times.

Satan is not more powerful than God. God is both just, and merciful, righteous, AND extremely patient. Satan rules this earth for a period because of man's sin. God could have ended it all in the Garden of Eden.. no more man, failed experiment. I'm certain Satan didn't plan on billions more human beings. Sin brings death, and Satan wanted to destroy God's creation up front. God had other plans, and has allowed the world to continue, so that many others may be adopted into his family.

Reference my previous post.

As for your "other Jesus" post, the Bible said there would be those imposters too, and so it has come to pass. Satan himself was described as an "Angel of Light". The REAL Jesus is known only though God's Word, the Bible. He exists today, and is coming again. Don't worship the counterfeit!

Is the free will of man greater than the power of God?

Of course not. That's not the point. Quite obviously, God, for whatever reason in His infinite wisdom, withholds His own will and lets humans make the earthly choices between good and evil in their daily lives.

If He was doing otherwise, there would be no evil in the world, since we would all be mindless pre-programmed robots who would know no different.

Faith and indeed Christianity itself are meaningless without human free will.

I'm Catholic. I learned that stuff in grade school. You take Religion way too seriously in my opinion. Religion is not an end all be all. It cannot answer every question in life. Use Religion as a compass not as answer book for things you or anyone cannot comprehend.

but this really makes you think

Yeah, and then barf.

Do humans (including terrorists) have free will, or not? Can you God's-gonna-abandon-us-if-we-don't-make-kids-pray-in-school types make up your mind one way or the other and let us know? Thanks.

Anybody who thinks God will judge America because we don't allow prayer in Government Schools must think that God judged Germany because they didn't allow prayer in the Death Camps.

The choice is up to each of us, as are the consequences.

Amen.

I'm Catholic.

Should have known.

I learned that stuff in grade school.

Apparently not; you just HEARD it in grade school

You take Religion way too seriously in my opinion.

One should be careful so as not to place a stumblingblock in the path of another. You bandy the word "religion" around as if it has little meaning for you; something akin to "science" maybe. Why would you desire to begrudge another man his faith? Jealousy? Pride? How do you see yourself in the overall scheme of things? Master of all you survey? We are all slaves to something; I choose God as my master; who or what is yours?

Religion is not an end all be all. It cannot answer every question in life. Use Religion as a compass not as answer book for things you or anyone cannot comprehend.

That word religion again. Maybe if you substitute the word faith where you use the word religion, it might take on more meaning for you. Then again, maybe not. The Bible tells us on many occasions that believers walk by faith, not by sight. Sounds like a formula for getting from one place to another. It's not an easy walk because there are many hazards and pitfalls along the way as you well know. But, by holding fast to the faith, believers will arrive; safe and sound.

Anyway, why did God let 9/11 happen? Beats me. I trust Him to do the right thing, EVERY time. I have faith that He knows what He is doing and that some day I will understand the depths of His mind. But not now, this corrupt temple could not contain it. Could 9/11 be a warning for us as a nation straying off the straight and narrow? Sure, but is it? It has caused many more in this country to be in the pews on Sunday. That's a good thing. We have a man of faith leading our country right now. THAT'S a good thing. It has caused me to stay up way past my bedtime in a feeble effort to try to bring someone to a better understanding of the faith and the faithful. That's very likely a good thing for me, and I'm hoping you, too.

May God bless you and keep you,

FGS
