Any time it rains in Texas, it's welcome.Especially in rural areas where large concrete parking lots and sidewalks have not screwed up the natural hydrology. In the cities,it is a slightly different story. Thank God for Bush!

You beat me to it! I was thinking the same thing. I was thinking they looked like leaches but mice is also very fitting.

About the rain...President Bush is glad for it:

``The president brought rain for which we are always grateful in the state of Texas,'' Bush shouted to reporters from behind the wheel of the Ford truck with Putin at his side.

It should not "dampen" the visit at all...

What a shame it's raining ... is this normal weather for Crawford TX this time of year?

There's no "normal" for Texas weather, except heat in the summer.

Good deer huntin' around that part of Texas. And it's deer season!

It puts down in Waco, I believe. The airport there used to be an AFB, so it has reinforced runways.

And the long runways needed for a 747.

I'm so proud to call this humble man "Our President", especially after 8 horrible, embarassing years of #42.

Clinton was the Great Divider...President Bush is the Great Uniter...God Bless Him.

Doesn't that say it all? -- The leader of the free world holding an umbrella for the wife of the Russian president, AND driving his own pickup. What a regular guy W. is, and what a wonderful wife is Laura Bush! So much class and decency after eight years of self-absorbed Clintonism. Can anyone imagine TRI-X-POTUS42 or Her Royal Heinous being that humble?

Looks like they are trying to melt Putin's heart with that menu.

Imagine if Bubba were still in charge: He and Putin driving around Hot Springs in his carpeted ElCamino hitting the race track, bars, and brothels.

Excellent and unbelievable. (Reagan did such things, didn't he?) Start by getting these visiting foreign leaders away from that stinking DC swamp and the neighboring Camp David. This sends the message to the foreign leader and to the stinkers themselves polluting the air in DC. You ain't America!

In the future, whenever the media slaps around President Bush, all he has to do to get back at them is say "I feel like a trip to Crawford". They hate it there.

Bunny, we need the rain, but this is a bit much today, There are a series of thunder and rain showers training up from the Gulf and there will be a doozy there in a little while I suspect.

There is no such thing as normal weather in Texas.. you can have anything and sometimes everything from using the AC to snow, all on the same day. I think Putin and Mrs. Putin can handle it though, at least it's not snowing.

I am so pround of GW, looking at his cheerful face makes me feel better than I have in the past eight long dreary years.

Regards, Jen

Putin is SMILING! I don't think I've ever seen him smile before. But Bush managed to get him to!

What a shame it's raining ... is this normal weather for Crawford TX this time of year?

Actually, it is pretty normal weather for central texas for this time of year. We get some rain in the early spring...then from May-September it's HOT and DRY...the rains return in late fall (sometimes with a vengeance!). Some areas around Waco got 10-11" of rain this past monday.

A visitor to texas in August, upon seeing how dry it was and all the grass turned brown, remarked "Doesn't it ever rain here?". The answer is "sure, we get plenty of rain here, trouble is we get it all in 3 days."
