I'm sure there's a way the guy can show his patriotism without violating the sign law. Or has that option not occurred to any of you knee-jerks?

Of course there is just pay them ten dollars, its the only way they could get in on the action since they don't own all the sign shops in town!!!

What an incredibly shallow story from both perspectives: 1) this guy who owns the diner should comply with the law, pay the $10 fine, and proudly display the banner. What an easy way to reflect one's patriotism -- follow simple and inexpensive rulings. 2) secondly, the Enforcement Office had an opportunity of a lifetime for GOOD press, which any public office could certainly use, I'm sure -- why didn't they initiate a "Show Your Patriotism -- Display American Flags/Banners" and advertise a waiver of the $10 fee?! Obviously too many hard-headed folks in this town with "me, me, me" on the top of their agendas.
