If the Gov't doesn't have straight answers to questions it needs to keep its collective mouth shut. We would have less of the tinfoil hat crowd if the Gov't was just honest said, "We don't know yet" or gave the straight skinny to start instead of throwing male bovine manure to see what sticks.

I'd wager nearly 80% of all flight delays of late are due to security.

Still can't believe they made me take my shoes off in KC.

I saw that too, but does that mean it took longer for the folks to clear security, or that there was a security threat specifically concerning the plane?

Maybe a bird was trying to sneak on board. I love how the NTSB is jumping to claim it was birds when that doesn't make any sense. If it were birds how then did the tail of the plane fall off before the engine? Maybe it was Big Bird.

74 minutes, the big IF, if there was a timed bomb on the plane that much time would have put it over water I think, oh well, IF is the big disclaimer.

Perhaps Governor Ridge could encourage the Port Authority to get rid of the Mafia goons that control everything on wheels at Idlewild.

I don't doubt it. Due to increased baggage checks many flights are delayed. I've heard that some flights out of BWI are delayed for up to 4 hours because of the increased security checking of baggage before it can be put on the aircraft.

A post on an airplane discussion board by a gate agent that worked on Flt 587. (reportedly, anyway)
