UPI: Bin Laden Might Be Captured Soon

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, Nov. 13 (UPI) -- The United States is closed to achieving its objective in Afghanistan: capturing suspected terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden and others responsible for the Sept. 11 terror attacks on New York and Washington, diplomatic sources in Islamabad said Tuesday.

Reports from Afghanistan recount lightening victories for the Northern Alliance, which had captured more than 40 percent of Afghanistan by Tuesday afternoon and were now moving toward the Taliban stronghold of Kandahar.

"The fall of Kabul earlier Tuesday has sealed the fate of bin Laden and his protector, Mullah Omar, the so-called supreme leader of the Taliban," said a western diplomatic source in Islamabad.

"We will not be surprised if there is an uprising in Kandahar soon and people capture bin Laden and Mullah Omar and hand them over to the opposition forces," he said.

According to that source, U.S. intelligence officials in Afghanistan are now working with the opposition forces and Pashtun rebels in southern parts of the country to ensure that "the two fugitives are caught alive. They fear that angry opposition forces or others may kill them as soon as they are captured."

Hopes for a rapid collapse of the Taliban in Kandahar increased after an uprising against the militant group in the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad. Most Afghan experts expected the opposition forces to face some resistance in Jalalabad as it is a Pashtun city and most Taliban rulers are also Pashtuns.

"But such events show that the Taliban were not popular anywhere. People were just afraid of them. Now that the process has started, it will be difficult for the Taliban to prevent similar uprising even in Kandahar. We expect Kandahar to fall soon," Western diplomatic sources in Islamabad said.

I just heard on the news that GWB is working with the AG to invoke a law where people like OBL and other traitors, in time of war will face a military trial instead of a trial by jury. This means OBL can be speedily found guilty and executed. I hope this is true. It was last used during WWII by FDR and during the civil war by A. Lincoln.

This latest piece of news means to me that GWB feels pretty sure we can capture this freak.

His head on a pike but his body fed to pigs. Maybe he won't be a martyr if he becomes pork.

And he won't be a martyr if he takes his own life. OBL is between the rock and the hard spot.

"Water, battery charger, " I say we ask Mr. Putin for some samples of the drugs that the KGB used during interrogation. This would partially liquify the brain of OBL as well. After all the info is squeeze out of him, then his head can be placed on a pike.

But it'd actually be great if his body was discovered in an extremely compromising, incriminating situation.

Why capture a corpse? It's likely Osama assumed room temperature weeks ago.

How about dying in a voting booth while casting a ballot for a Democrat?

Dead or Alive?? I prefer dead as well.

We definately do not need these "all for Alah, give me 70 virgins" wacko's, causing more terror and hyjacking Americans in attempt to trade for their beloved OBL.

If a trial is a must so be it, have a trial, but if he mysteriously dies of an infected hangnail in jail, It wouldn't keep me from any sleep at night, not one bit!

I don't want him captured; I want him dead.

We have prohibitions against cruel and unusual punishment but I would like to see Bin Laden kept alive for some creative form of torment. Also there are millions who consider him the fullfillment of prophesy so his appeal to the masses as a martyr and role model needs to be undermined.

The best thing I've come up with is a satellite feed of Bin Laden on a hidden camera as he voluntarily watches porn in his cell and grows fat eating pork. Surely that would be legal. After a couple of years, we could turn him over to the Afgans for a more final justice.
