UPI: Bin Laden Might Be Captured Soon

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, Nov. 13 (UPI) -- The United States is closed to achieving its objective in Afghanistan: capturing suspected terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden and others responsible for the Sept. 11 terror attacks on New York and Washington, diplomatic sources in Islamabad said Tuesday.

Reports from Afghanistan recount lightening victories for the Northern Alliance, which had captured more than 40 percent of Afghanistan by Tuesday afternoon and were now moving toward the Taliban stronghold of Kandahar.

"The fall of Kabul earlier Tuesday has sealed the fate of bin Laden and his protector, Mullah Omar, the so-called supreme leader of the Taliban," said a western diplomatic source in Islamabad.

"We will not be surprised if there is an uprising in Kandahar soon and people capture bin Laden and Mullah Omar and hand them over to the opposition forces," he said.

According to that source, U.S. intelligence officials in Afghanistan are now working with the opposition forces and Pashtun rebels in southern parts of the country to ensure that "the two fugitives are caught alive. They fear that angry opposition forces or others may kill them as soon as they are captured."

Hopes for a rapid collapse of the Taliban in Kandahar increased after an uprising against the militant group in the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad. Most Afghan experts expected the opposition forces to face some resistance in Jalalabad as it is a Pashtun city and most Taliban rulers are also Pashtuns.

"But such events show that the Taliban were not popular anywhere. People were just afraid of them. Now that the process has started, it will be difficult for the Taliban to prevent similar uprising even in Kandahar. We expect Kandahar to fall soon," Western diplomatic sources in Islamabad said.

I think it should come with no pre announcement

What I hope for in Bush just calls and unexplained press conference on the White House lawn.

With all the cameras rolling and the press there Bush, with out saying a word, walks up to the podium.

Then Bush looks the whole country in the eye and said one word.... "here".

Then pitches bin Ladan's head out on the White House lawn like a bowling ball.....

Bush then turns and walks away without a another word.

Kill him, don't capture him, or there will be hostage taking to demand his release. Once dead, always dead. Send him to his 72 virgins. Don't you see? That is what you want. You want to force their hand. It brings them out into the open. A suicidal terrorist is only good once. This is a war. Believe me, this really is for the children.

Bring him to NYC and charge him at the state level,a couple of hours in Attica or Elmira will loosen his tongue,if he still has one after they put his scrawny terrorist ass in tha main pop. Then bring him out and "extract"every bit of info he has,and then toss him back to the animals that dwell in our state prisons.

Surely they can find a Bubba, whose Mutha, was in the WTC at Attica.

I don't want him dead...I want him alive...so that we can then shoot him at close range, one limb at a time. Then let's sew him up with an infected needle...and not give him any medical attention.

Death is too good for this man...I want him and his cronies to physically suffer pain. It is the only way for him to come close to the emotional pain he has wrought on this country and its great people.

from "The Man Who Would be King" by Rudyard Kipling

He fumbled in the mass of rags round his bent waist; brought out a black horsehair bag embroidered with silver thread, and shook therefrom on to my table--the dried withered head of Daniel Dravot Osama bin Laden! The morning sun that had long been paling the lamps struck the red beard and blind sunken eyes; struck, too, a heavy circlet of gold studded with raw turquoises, that Carnehan placed tenderly on the battered temples.

'You be'old now,' said Carnehan, 'the Emperor in his 'abit as he lived--the King of Kafiristan with his crown upon his head. Poor old Daniel that was a monarch once!'

May it be the same with Osama and Omar.

Hope he is telling the truth for once. He's media savvy enough to allow himself to be captured and milk this for all its worth. Hope the NA and our boys will take the shot.

I have always felt that this is the point in history where Iowa will really come into its own-- as the final resting place for Islamic "martyrs."

Buried in a pig's skin, their head in the pig's head, under either a state-of-the-art hog raising facility, or possibly under one of the so-called lagoons that hold hog feces.

Who knows, it might even generate tourism and improve pork prices.

I hope that is correct--but I agree with those who say we want him alive for interrogation, and to be able to verify his identity.

This statement is merely for public consumption. The U.S. wants him dead.

Agreed, but privately, I think they want him alive for a little while so we can have a little chat with him.

Then his public capture and execution at the hands of other muslims can take place.

I wouldn't worry about verifying his identity. DNA analysis will take care of that. Even if we don't already have a sample of bin Laden's DNA, I'm sure we have samples from some of his many siblings and children. That's enough to establish 50% consanguinity.

Doesn't look like Ramadan's going to be a problem. I wonder if we've already got him and are questioning him prior to turning him over to the opposition? I know we don't want the opposition to kill him, just like we didn't want the NA to go into Kabul...But it makes sense we would chat with him first.

No doubt he's had an exit plan for a long time that will ensure all the loose ends are satisfied:

1) Die a martyr.

2) Take out as many infidels as possible.

3) Make sure the world is well aware of 1) and 2).

Idiotiotic statement! He knows who and where the 'sleepers' are, and you don't want him alive. Incredible.

Fine, as long as they capture a bullet ridden burned corpse with flies all over it. I would dig that.
