MSNBC is running video of a police boat removing a large section of the tail from Jamaca Bay. Hard to tell how large but 30 feet wouldn't be a bad estimate. The anchor guy said the scene was close to the runway. Looks like this interview was correct that the tail separated prior to the engines.
