Veterans Day Parade 11.10.2001

Ponca City, Oklahoma is a typical American small town in noth-central Oklahoma (pop. ~25,000). On Saturday, November 10th we honored our veterans with a parade. Following are a few images I thought you would enjoy

Boy scouts arrive early to one of several areas to prepare for the parade.

More boy scouts... They were everywhere and it was a welcome sight.

A disabled veteran awaits the start of the festivities.

Boy Scouts hand out American flags to the spectators. They made sure everybody had at least one.

Even those servicemembers who were not participating in the parade wore their uniforms.

CBS News visited Ponca City. They stated Dan Rather would be doing a story on small town America on the Monday evening news show.

19 WWII veterans were honored for their duty by finally recieving their high school diplomas. All 19 were called to duty before they could complete high school. A stage was set up for the heros to walk across and recieve their somewhat delayed diplomas.

The parade was puncuated by several fly-overs from multiple WWII era aircraft. The sight and soud was awesome

As you can see the planes were flying quite low
