Today is really sad..I guess because it is Vets Day.My flag is right outside my window and earlier I was thinking of all that Herb went through years ago for that flag.And now,because of some worthless excuse of humanity,Herb is gone in "body" and my sister's gone in "spirit".The rage I feel is beyond expression. However,the warm thoughts I get to read from all of the FReepers helps.I know goodness and justice will prevail;it just needs to be a little faster. Thanks to all Vets....our American treasure.

Please give your sister and extra hug from those of us that never met the Chief, but wish that we had.

The written word can sometimes reveal so much more of the inner person than can be seen in person. (In fact, I fell in love with my wife through letters). I believe that all of us freepers saw into the soul of a truly remarkable and admirable man. The love that he felt for his wife, children, grandchildren, his mother, and his country was awe inspiring. The Chief always conducted himself with the manners of a true gentleman, and it was obvious that he was not just acting the part.

While I know that Herb is sitting with God and that our loss is Heaven's gain, it is with deep concern that Herb's family is in my heart. To lose someone like him is beyond the scope of my experience. I can only pray that God comforts and brings His peace to the family, especially to your sister.

I can also hope that there is an especially hot place in hell for whoever did this abominable crime.

Please give Belinda our best and tell her she is in the thoughts and prayers of lots of FReepers.

You know they say a person's value to humanity is hardly ever realized when he is amoung the living.

It's the vacuum that's left when they die that causes everyone to realize what a role that person played in all their lives.

Please communicate to Belinda that Herb would want her to get well and enjoy her life as best she can.
