Does anyone have any thoughts as to why a C-5 would be one of the planes diverted? It is the plane at the lower right just short of the threshold.

All inbound air traffic was grounded. It also appears that there is a C-141 in the upper portion of the photo on the taxiway ahead of the L-1011.

All flights were diverted including some Canadian and US military flights. I guess the thinking was that they didn't want to have to make the disticntion, rather just close it all up.
