Geesh, sorry. I just don't know what I do wrong on this site that my comments are so often misunderstood. It is very disheartening. (Yeah, I know boo hoo boo hoo).
I included you in my reply to Amore and Denar01 because I really liked what you said (Personally I wouldn't watch Survivor if it were the only show on. Then I remembered that freedom is what we are fighting for. Even if it is freedom to choose Survivor over the President of the United States.) It inspired me and I was sort of taking off from it.
It was not in any way sarcasm. I was being perfectly sincere.
To: Amore
OK, glad to hear it.

No harm, no foul....:) I am often misunderstood online too. I am relatively new at posting and didn't think about the possibility that you were talking to others...and politely including me in the response so I could read it. It was late, I was tired and I was shooting from the hip in my response. Please feel free to include me again and I'll read before I react.....:)

You should give the show one chance, I'm sure you'd love it. Probably not though, that is the only show on TV I actually watch so, I'll watch it when it's on. If CBS chose to show GWB I would have watched his speech, but they chose to show Survivor so I watched that.

Well maybe I'll try giving Survivor a look some time. I imagine that the qualities of courage, ruggedness, determination, etc., are its appeal. Honestly, the shows I mostly watch other than Fox News, are oldie reruns. I don't like the morals or lack thereof on most of the new stuff.

I'm going to keep saying this...I see nothing wrong with these decisions. To have the speech, which was not anything new, at 8pm on Thursday evening was not very considerate for the economy of the stations. I'm not being sarcastic. When there are 30 other stations carrying the speech, I think it is fine to air your BIGGEST money making shows. I don't think it's unpatriotic. Bush keeps telling us to go about our lives, spend money, help the economy and then expects the networks to pre-empt broadcasting schedules. I don't think it was very smart for the Pres's people to schedule it at that time.

How curious ... I watched the speech live on CBS in Calif. It was not on NBC or ABC ...

PBS not airing the president. Public Broadcasting System? It is time to cut these idiots off from any tax payer funding period! NOT A PENNY.
To: Little John
Sorry the FCC has NO jurisdiction over networks. Don't waste your time

Why is everyone saying that ONLY ABC carried this speach live, when it was ALSO live on CNN and FOX?
ABC, CBS, NBC are the only three networks to have almost everyone in this country see their channels. The WB, FOX and UPN do not reach as many as the big three. Foxnews and CNN are cable channels not network TV. CNN reaches 120 million people and FoxNews gets around 80 million.
Remember those two networks lost billions of dollars and the two shows they had at the time were their major money makers and they really need the cash. We do not want to see major networks starting to fall apart with the hundreds of thousands that need them for their jobs right now.
To: Hildy
I forgot -- It's the economy, stupid" is still the motto of the day.
Who cares what the President has to say? We are only at war, our sons and daughters are serving us in the military, and who needs to let the President of the free world have a half hour?
If you think that airing Friends and its commercials is more important to this nation and its young people at this time and cannot see that this lack of coverage is not only disrepectful to the Office of the President and Commander in Chief, then I truly weep for my country and those "other" young people who are defending it with their very lives.
To: germanshepherd
Hey other than Survivor, it is FOX News or the History Channel here. Survivor is the only reality TV show that I watch, I guess I'm hooked on it. I've been watching it from the beginning of its first run though.
