I like the man a great deal, and I have absolute confidence in him as Commander-in-Chief, but "Let's roll"? Has our level of oratory really sunk that low? I can't help but feel a twinge of disappointment.

Surely you jest. The last words of a fallen hero from September 11?
The symbolic power of those words certainly was not lost on the crowd.

He could have said "Never More."

Actually, I really liked his "Let's Roll" comment. I thought it lent a certain down to earth touch, conveyed a message to Americans and commemorated the last known words of Todd Beamer.

If it is eloquence that you desire, I am sure that you can find it in anything, written or spoken, by WJC as he was, admittedly, a good orator. If you want the PLAIN UNADULTERATED truth, then Bush is your man.
If ever two words were worthy of being repeated, it is these two words: "Let's Roll !"
When you consider what the man who spoke these words as his last, and those who joined him, possibly prevented surely you cannot disagree.

I believe "Let's Roll" will live like "Remember The Alamo" has lived.

What the --? Disappointment? You must be out of your gourd.
I did not get to hear the speech, but read it here and I am impressed.

I think you missed the point of the phase "let's roll." It was a tribute to the American determination to overcome adversity which was exemplified in Todd Beamer aboard flight 93. I think "let's roll" will enter the American lexicon of great patriotic phrases alongside phrases such as Nathan Hale's "I regret that I have but one life to give to my country."

If "Let's roll" was good enough for a hero who knew he was going to die, it is by damn good enough for a president.
