Yep...anybody stooopid enuff to give their hard-earned bucks to a generic money-grubbing charity like the United Way deserves to be fleeced. It's much more rewarding to give to particular causes that you can track their money-spending efficiency and their effectiveness in achieving their stated mission. I particularly favor giving to St. Jude's Hospital and other organizations that help sick and needy children, but there are a lot of wonderful charities out there worthy of yer donations. IMHO, the United Way ain't one of them!! But I do like their commercials with the NFL...LOL!!

BTW...same way in donating to Generic Political Funds, I don't give to the Republican Senate Committee (or whatever it's called) anymore, because my money might go to re-elect a Senator--like John Warner--whom I abhor. Best bet is to contribute directly to a particualr candidate or to a group like Stephen Moore's Club for Growth.
WE, TOO. I love sticking their little green stickers on the info I get and returning them, though. Seems my "junk" mail has diminished since we started doing that, too.
