I did hear that cell phones weren't working in some areas (hehheh, I don't have one of the things either, but I'm over 40--ALL the under-21s have them, every one). But local phone service was good all day, except in Lower Manhattan. I could call anyone I wanted as long as it was in the city! It was getting an outside line that was the problem (nearly impossible for a day or two). Even so, I managed to call my parents in New Mexico at about 9:30, and again just before Tower 2 fell.
If Chelsea couldn't get long-distance on the apartment phone, it was useless to try from the street. And not much of an emergency anyway, if she'd already reached her mom's assistant. Surely Hillary's office has caller ID and they could see she was calling from the place she'd been staying. Daughter safe. Try again later.
I wouldn't mind Chelsea saying she was "irresistably drawn" toward the scene (though it's the last thing I would have done), but just don't insult my intelligence by claiming to be looking for a phone that worked. It's nonsense.
What I don't get is why she went from a safe location directly toward the danger, especially when so many thousands of people were running and screaming *away* from it. Unless I see some details in that "article," I don't believe that she even went down there.
The whole family is STARVED for unending attention. They can't even keep track of their lies. Now they've let Chelsea out of the stable.
Thousands dead or wounded, all he!! breaking loose, and this ditz is writing about her non-event? And paid big bucks for this tripe? It's an insult to the victims and their families.
