At the end of his speech, Mr. Clinton -- who was impeached for lying under oath about a sexual relationship with a 21-year-old White House intern -- said the entire issue revolves around "the nature of truth."

"This battle fundamentally is about what you think about the nature of truth," he said, noting that God has imposed on us the inability to ever know "the whole truth."

He also championed women's rights in Afghanistan, saying the reason "you see all those sanctimonious guys beating those women with sticks" is because the country's rulers demand strict adherence to the rules.

as I listened to Shelby Steele,

a research fellow at the Hoover Institution,

debunk the following pernicious spin intended to save clinton.

To wit:

A proven felon and utter reprobate can remain president;

clinton can be a failed human being but a good president.

 

The error in these statements arises, says Steele,

from the belief that

virtuousness is separate from personal responsibility

so that one's virtuousness as an individual is determined by

one's political positions on issues rather than on

whether or not in one's personal life there is a

consistency and a responsibility.

 

Steele's contention is that this compartmentalization,

rather than being the amazing advantage

the clintons would have us believe,

in fact, spills toxicity into, corrupts, the culture.

 

If mere identification with good policies is what makes one virtuous

then those policies become, what Steele calls, iconographic,

that is to say they just represent virtuousness.

They don't necessarily do virtuous things.

 

If clinton's semantic parsing strips meaning from our words,

clinton's iconographic policies strip meaning from our society,

systematically deconstructing our society as a democracy. . .

 

I would take Shelby Steele's thesis one step further.

I maintain that iconographic policy functions like a placebo,

producing a real, physiological and social effects.

 

The placebo effect is, after all, the brain's triumph over reality.

Expectation alone can produce powerful physiological results.

The placebo effect was, at one time, an evolutionary advantage:

act now, think later

Which brings me back to the original question:

Can clinton be a failed human being but a good president?

 

Clearly he cannot.

These two propositions are mutually exclusive.

clinton's fundamental failure is a complete lack of integrity.

He has violated his covenant with the American people.

 

Because clinton has destroyed his moral authority as a leader,

he can no longer function even as a quack;

1- It IS possible to prove by induction (and to confirm using FBI profiling of the POWER ASSERTIVE serial rapist) that the degenerate is a sexual predator and rapist.

 

2- There IS evidence that clinton raped Broaddrick. There ARE multiple witnesses to whom Broaddrick contemporaneously and independently and consistently told the story of her rape by clinton. There IS a witness to Broaddrick's injuries, shock and torn clothes, who saw all this evidence within minutes of the alleged rape.

 

3- Virtually ALL rapes have no witnesses to the act, itself. It is virtually ALWAYS a he-said/she-said situation. Credibility of the "he" and the "she" is the key criterion. Clinton is a documented congenital liar and sexual predator. Broaddrick is "squeaky clean" according to NBC. Which one of these two any unbiased jury and/or sane, thinking person would believe is a no-brainer.

 

4- This is not about "punishing" clinton. It's not about depriving clinton of life or liberty or money. It's about firing clinton. Thus, the standard is different. It is lower.

 

5- The suggestion that because the alleged rape occurred 21 years ago, it is unprovable, is standard issue clinton claptrap. Crimes of greater age are routinely solved.

 

6- That the statute of limitations has run is another red herring. The issue here is clinton's fitness to serve, not whether he can be tried for the rape.

 

Notwithstanding this, there are recent, associated crimes that can resurrect the rape.

 

NOTE: Heinous crimes (like murder) have no statute of limitations.

 

Moreover, the argument can fairly be made that the statute of limitations should be extended in this case because clinton and his Arkansas machine intimidated Broaddrick into inaction for those 21 years. Indeed, there is currently a movement afoot nationally to remove the statute of limitations in the case of rape, recognizing the victim's profound fear to come forward and other complexities associated with this dispicable--and I might add, formerly capital--offense.

 

Not to be found in NBC's 23 sanitized minutes but on the cutting room floor: Immediately after the rape Broaddrick says she was fearful clinton would send one of his goons up to that hotel room "to dispose of the body."

 

Broaddrick feared for her life and her well-being, given clinton's reputation for brutality and his very public maltreatment of his numerous other wounded prey; and she feared for her livelihood, given the state regulation of her nursing home(s).

Shays Reveals Details of Clinton's 'Horrific' Broaddrick Rape

 

Arkansas nursing home operator Juanita Broaddrick told impeachment

investigators she was raped not once but twice by Bill Clinton during a

brutal attack in a Little Rock hotel room 22 years ago, Connecticut

Congressman Christopher Shays revealed Wednesday.

 

Shays was one of forty moderate congressional Republicans to visit the

Ford Building evidence room during the House impeachment probe, where

Broaddrick's accusation and documentation of other alleged Clinton

crimes were made available for review.

 

Five days after Clinton was impeached by the House, Shays told the New

York Times that the evidence was, "very alarming and very unsettling,"

involving, "conduct by the president that is alleged to be pretty

horrific."

 

In his comments to the Times Shays made no mention of the second attack

on Broaddrick.

 

But when asked about the Ford Building evidence on Wednesday by WELI New

Haven talk-radio host Tom Scott, Shays replied, "I believed that he had

done it. I believed her that she had been raped 20 years ago. And it

was vicious rapes, it was twice at the same event."

 

When Scott asked Shays if he believes the president is a rapist, the

congressman replied, "I would like not to say it that way.

But the bottom line is that I believe that he did rape Broaddrick."

 

Shays comments to Scott were first reported by National Review Online

late Wednesday.

 

The reactions of other House members who viewed the evidence at the time

suggested that Clinton's assault on Broaddrick was more disturbing than

what has been reported in the press since.

 

Just days after the impeachment vote Arizona Rep. Matt Salmon told the

Arizona Republic that what he saw in the Ford Building left him

"nauseated." Delaware Rep. Mike Castle was reduced to tears, according

to CNBC's Chris Matthews.

 

The shocking presidential rape evidence briefly moved Shays into the

pro-impeachment column, he told the Times after the vote. But a personal

meeting with Clinton, Shays said, changed his mind.

 

Not a single U.S. Senator viewed the Ford Building evidence before

voting to acquit Clinton on two articles of impeachment.

 

In 1999, Georgia Congressman Bob Barr told NewsMax.com that the Ford

Building materials would remain sealed unless the American people

demanded their release.

Peggy Noonan's excellent piece in yesterday's Wall Street Journal is really the story of the death of democracy. At its core it is the description of the human double helix gone terribly awry, of a denatured protein grotesquely twisted, of two mutant, tangled strands of DNA, the basest imaginable of base pairs linked permanently, as firmly as guanine to cytosine, bill inexorably to hillary and conversely, doing what they do best, and doing it relentlessly.

 

Killing.

Killing insidiously.

Killing as they pose and pander and feel our pain.

 

My only complaint is with Peggy Noonan's title.

The Mad Boomer, doesn't begin to capture candidate clinton considered separately or even taken as the self-anointed "twofer," permanently conjoined at that cavity conspicuously empty except for ego, that place where brain and soul and guts and heart normally reside.

 

This is not to say that she -- that they -- are not both quite mad and of that self-indulgent, arrogantly, ignorantly solipsistic age sandwiched flatly between yesterday's innocence and tomorrow's insouciance. Rather, it is that their madness and their boomerism don't even begin to explain their noxious influence: The cloying, internally inconsistent clinton calculus. The unspoken clinton threats. They permeate the atmosphere like a coiling miasma, choking off all freedom.

 

Even in New York.

Especially in New York.

When she wrote "The New Colossus," Emma Lazarus hardly had in mind this pair of mutant, deadly, twisted aliens.

And thus the odd bit of bloody Gore in Act II: The ugly sight of a corrupt, bottom-heavy hillary self-impaled on the horns of a Treason-Dilemma- masquerading-as-a-Third-Term-Dilemma-masquerading-as-a-Senate-stampede, for example, or bill's recent unsolicited, underwhelming Times interview on the Gore candidacy.

 

Act I was called "The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover." Ostensibly the tale of the wife of a bloodthirsty crime boss who finds romance with a bland bookseller between courses at her husband's restaurant, it was in fact the Thyestean and moveable -- yet unmoving -- feast of hillary clinton at her husband's sham restitution. (Note the reciprocity. The sham restitution in Act II is all hillary's.)

 

Food, color coding, sex, murder, torture and cannibalism were the exotic (if mostly horizontal) fare in this beautifully filmed but brutally uncompromising modern memoir which passed as ancient fable about nouveau riche rapacity.

Not for the faint at heart, Purple Hearts or queazy stomachs, this depiction of the gross debasement of America was heavily peppered with irony and dark humor throughout.

 

Although she baked no cookies, didn't do illicit land or cattle deals and stood by no man, hillary clinton starred in the triple role of the Cook, the Thief and his Wife. Her lover was played at once vaporously and in workmanlike fashion by the ghost of Eleanor Roosevelt, with Janet Reno, between her stints rendering intermittent injustice for the Husband, as the reliable stand-in. Sidney Blumenthal was the stand-in for the Cook and Craig Livingstone the stand-in for the Thief. The last-minute addition of Christopher Hitchens as the snitch was a stroke of absolute genius notwithstanding its cerebral accident, its predictable-if-perfect pitch and its facile alliteration.

 

Although Act I had no rating, the new clinton soccer-mom directive will require a photo ID for any viewer without independent proof of illegal alien DNC or DNA sequencing.

 

 

In Act II, rabid anti-clinton voters, roughly 33% of the U.S. populace according to as-yet-unpodded pollsters, become increasingly aware that they are disappearing in droves and being replaced by alien pod replicas which have their physical attributes but lack all anti-clinton affect.

 

If Act I was a thinly veiled allegory about naked clintonism, then Act II is a parable about the plan for world domination by the Establishment, aged hippies in pinstripes all, with their infantile, solipsistic world view amazingly untouched by time.
