Note: I had recently decided not to frequent FR, but with William Cooper's death, I came back to see what kind of response his demise engendered. The posts I read are so ridiculous that I felt it necessary to post my thoughts in a new thread, along with the audio link that succinctly illustrates what happened to Cooper, a man I found very hard to take serious. I tried to listen to him, but I find that people like Alex Jones (who I also find hard to listen to) are more worthy of my time to. Good Patriot radio should be a clearing house for information, with legible documents to back it up. People who just espouse their theories and beliefs IMHO should get down off the soapbox and stop taking themselves so seriously. In Mr. Coopers case, it appears that he bought his own rhetoric hook, line and sinker, which resulted in his own death and the critical wounding of what was possibly a Peace Officer who respects the TRUE spirit of this Nation.

My indifference to William Cooper has turned to disgust. He has just thrown mud on the Patriot movement to which he imagined he was the leader.

This should induce some very interesting responses.

Be sure to listen to the audio, which is towards the middle of Alex Jone's broadcast, before you formulate your opinions.

Of course for most of you, I'm sure you will just blindly respond with your prejudice seeking instant gratification. TaZ out...for sure this time.

I don't think he has harmed the patriot movement if the movement is willing to do the research, as you have, and then speak out that, just as any group, there are those that for whatever reason just go too far. I salute your effort and hope some on here do not label you a "turn coat" or Government "shill" for doing so.

I say that there are true patriots, and there are people so obsessed with control that they pretend to fight for "liberty" but instead are simply beating their chests. William was no different than the terrorists we are currently fighting. They are so immersed in the propaganda and lies about the US gov that they are practically fighting something that is simply not there. And in doing so, they hurt the innocent ones that just so happen to be in the place of where these extremists have directed their paranoid delusions.

The fact that a law enforcement officer was critically wounded (killed?) speaks volumes about Cooper.

Of course, the right-wing equivalent of the "Free Mumia" crowd will be out to support him.

The Doctor is a local man who grew up in Eagar, and returned to establish a practice following medical school. Cooper was so enraged at the Doctor trespassing "on his mountain" that he walked down off from the mesa and put a gun in the doctor's face when he answered the door, saying "If you ever come up on my mountain again, I'll kill you."

What is it about the Ruby ridge militia types that they must threaten the lives of anything and anyone that steps onto their property?

We have some around here. The no tresspassing signs are almost a decoration, they are so prevalent. Why is it that they really want people to know that they will be shot dead the second the accidentally touch their property?

At first, I was speculative regarding the initial press releases issued by the Apache County Sheriff's Office. We have seen the evil NWO media dog's spin before.....

The Apache County Sheriff's Office - a tool of the NWO? Not.

Thanks for the update.

Not all folks going to this site wear "Tin Hats". I certainly don't give Alex Jones any time. Thanks for the post, and visit FreeRepublic more often.

Cooper sounds like a nut case to me.

I never knew him, but I have lived in the Springerville-Egar-Greer-St. Johns, Arizona area. It's very rural and agricultural and not much there to do with the NWO that I'm aware of. Lots of pot heads and tweakers though.

I don't know much about Cooper. I believe he showed-up in Sandpoint Idaho in support of the McGuckin children and for that I respect him. But if Cooper was being served with a warrant, well that's legal and constitutional, and Cooper should have known that. Sorry to see a good man go down the wrong way.

People go over the edge sometimes. Sounds like Cooper was paranoid to the point of madness. He shouldn't have resisted arrest. Suicide by cop it sounds like to me.

I don't know anything about William Cooper, except that the reports of his demise sound hinky. However, a cop with a warrant can kill you if he wants...it has happened before. My judgment is still out on Mr. Cooper.

It sounds like Cooper committed "suicide by cop."

Not an unusual event in the world of whack-jobs...

Didn't he jump out of a plane with a parachute over Oregon, carrying a bundle of cash? Wasn't he never heard from again?

I see similarities between Cooper's death and that of Crocodile Dundee. Both began to "wierd out." Croc apparently ambushed cops he believed were coming to disarm him. He in turn was killed. He apparently had a drug problem. Perhaps this induced some sort of psychosis. Anyway, tragic loss of life in both cases. Neither do us any good...

I, for one, am sorry to see what Cooper apparently did to himself. I've listened to Cooper on and off since 1992 and he was a true pioneer in waking up the sheople to what is going on in America. It's true that he could be a nasty SOB and was quick to turn on his friends but his good work cannot be discounted. His insistence on documentation over rumor and is compelling patriotism will resonate well beyond his demise. Many more "moderate" patriots who are working to educate the American people about the true nature of our form of government and its destruction got started listening to Bill. It takes a certain inner strength to be a pioneer, especially when that can be a very lonely and dangerous profession. I believe that one day, Bill will be seen as being way ahead of his time and I can't fault him for finally cracking up. From his perspective, however warped it became in the end, an arrest on a "local" charge would have, sooner than later, meant transfer into the Federal meat grinder - courtesy of the IRS and the corrupt monetary system that everyone prefers to ignore rather than examine and replace. Frankly, death doesn't look so bad when staring at that prospect.

Not everyone can maintain the intestinal fortitude that Bill had for as long as he had it and I can see how he could descend into bitterness and depression considering the vast apathy of the American people in the face of their own enslavement. While it's obvious to me that he "lost it," Bill was the quintessential "canary in the coal mine." May he rest in peace.

Well, as someone who disagrees with Alex Jones AND William Cooper, I am heartened to hear that Mr. Jones actually went out and investigated the matter before talking about it, and my estimation of him has gone up a few notches as a result.

Cooper and his writing/speaking were always good for a laugh, IMNHO; I am saddened that he decided to threaten a fellow citizen for no good reason and subsequently decided to shoot it out with the sheriff's deputies.

Just because he was paranoid doesn't mean they were still not out to get him. For victory & freedom!!!
